I'm actually surprised by this, in my most recent match I saw that there was just a single heavy on my time, which is well, kinda normal, has happened before for sure, but I was quite surprised by the fact the enemy team had literally no heavies though, mind you this was a tier 10 match.

I thought the mm always mostly mirrored the team's classes against each other? Let alone would let one team get a heavy and the other one no heavy at all?

I was playing 40 matches during yesterday.

about 4+ where with no HT at all, which meant that cities raiming unoccupied ... which the rspective result.

MM does indeed mostly mirror, but if there was no other TX heavy in the queue at the time, it would have grabbed a random tank (most likely a medium) to prevent long wait times. Have seen it happen before. MM will even grab a lower tier HT to even out the class numbers if need be.

Damn really? Which tier was that might I ask? I think I've almost never seen a match, even in low tiers that doesn't have at least one heavy.

WG have always said they prioritise speed of MM where possible so if the tank queue has odd numbers of tanks in it will occasionally generate oddly balanced teams. It's fine, it doesn't happen often and it mixes things up a bit when it does

The mm can start dropping rules if someone has been in the queue for too long.

So if that heavy had queued for two minutes and the mm didn't find a heavy to match it against then it could ignore that rule.

Back in the old days of WoT, you could find yourself the only heavy against 9 artillery :)

It happens, not that often maybe, but it does.
At the moment, the top of the tree is a me

dium, and that is going to at least slightly boost the number of mediums in the MM pool. The most likely class to be down in numbers as a result is the heavies. Other events can re-enforce this effect. I fancy heavy tanks are actually a bit down in numbers anyway in the last few months, things tend to go in waves in my experience, even if only a bit.

Oh wow, dunno if I'm just "lucky" or if you've just been unlucky then with the mm being weird.

Oh, MM has always been odd like that now and then. As pointed out above, MM has a set of rules to follow. But if time is an issue, he will bend those rules a bit.

Tho he did bend them more before. As in the late hours, you had the odd match with tier 29 tier 7 HTs, and one tier 5 medium. My M4 did see a few of those before, and they were... interesting. Or my 3+ scout MM lights that could never be top tier, becoming top tier. As MM made a tier 7 to 9 game with no tier 9's in it. The old clip gun Bulldog had a field day when that did happen. As a match like that is still my max damage game in it.

The matchmaker can only make battles with the tanks it has in the queue.

Back in the day, you didn't have symmetric battles. You could be in a team with 5 HTs against 5 MTs.

People complained about the MM, as they will continue to do so ad eternum but those, those were the good old days.

I am a big fan of dropping and ignoring rules with discretion

My hat goes off to the automated MM which seems superior in this respect to some humans
