First of all, I’m a complete newbie who plays this game for only 6 weeks and I enjoy it lots. Mostly in tier 3 with a Pz III E and a Valentine.

Because I’m with 66 odd years less agile than an average 18 years old, I’m not a good brawler (eye/hand coordination, reflexes and such...) so I love to play the sniper role in my Stug.

Since we all love a big bang, I opted for the 105 mm derp gun but it’s horrible inaccurate for shots >100 meters, so I was wondering how the 75 mm gun is like. On paper great rof and excellent pen, especially with apcr rounds.

I would appreciate it if you want to share your experiences and thoughts on this with me.

Cheers!

You can sniper also with the howitzer but you need a decend crew, equip and know how to aim.

The 75 is cute too and have some nice rate of fire.

I never felt that those tanks (stug B and Hetzer) have a "better gun". It is more related to "how do you feel/want to play".

105mm derp gun is for in-your-face shotgunning - better used on the Hetzer than the Stug.

My crew is 105 to 116% and all of them having almost 100% secondary perks. I’m using a camo net, binos and improved ventilation. Yesterday I had a few good battles, also with long distance shots, so I guess that the rng was a bit in my favour...

Yeah, I’ve read that on WoT Wiki too, but the Hetzer is not (any longer?) in the German tech tree. Was it a premium tank? Anyway, I think I’ll just buy the 75 mm gun to see what fits my playing style best. It’s not an overly expensive purchase after all.

Thanks for your replies.

You can buy the hetzer in the "collector section" of the game, and is like normal tech tree vehicle, but there is nothing to research after it.

As soon you unlock the tier and kind of the collector tank that you want, you can buy it.

10,5cm guns are not called derp guns without a reason.

Sometimes you miss every shot and other times you won't hit a thing.

I never liked Stug B, but tier 5 Stug G with long 7,5cm is an excelent sniper.

Get the StuG III G with the long 75mm gun and you will see what a true sniper is.
