I can't figure out how to play it and I'm very not happy with my current performance. Is it the tank, am I unlucky or I just don't get it? I heard many great things about this tank but it just doesn't work for me. The gun bloom is beyond terrible and it gun trolls like.... **** 68%? Bourassuqe has better sniping capabilities than this tank, I hit 78% of my shots without food and it's supposed to have worse gun handling than Charioteer. Any tips? Please...

I hated it as well, ragesold it once, rebought it, unlocked conway and never looked back again. To me Conway was more of the same.. FV4005 is also hit or miss and since they nerfed it mostly miss.

Does gun behave same on Conway?

I might just sell it since I have no pleasure playing this tank most of the time and it works only if I'm lucky. I didn't experience that trollish gun in any other tank, aiming aiming aiming just for shot go straight to ground. I can put that crew into FV4005, but... I don't know if I will like it

It's not a bad tank. I didn't perform amazingly in it but I was just powergrinding it to t10.

Overall play it like a med top tier. Get a good crew and get optics + food so you can spot for yourself. Avoid close range fights with lights and learn all the places where you can abuse vision. Not redline campy spots but those smart bushes etc. Also you have speed so remember to go to that place that allows you to get that 1 early shot of extra damage and then go to your campy spot. 1 shot doesn't sound like enough but your DPG + 390 would put you firmly on the edge of dark blue and purple wn8.

Overall the tank requires you to read the enemy lineup well. If you can outvision enemy tanks you can play more aggressive and not camp so far back.

Look for good bush guides from Iyouxin on youtube and overall his playstyle will suit this TD well. Conserve HP, use vision, snipe but not from redline. When top tier hesh the crapout of people.

I loved mine. The thing to remember is that while it looks and moves like an MT it is not one. You really do have to sit still to get performance out of the gun.

It might look like a medium tank, it's not!

It works best as a sniper at medium to long range. Ofcouse it's not as accurate as the strv, but if you use a ridge you can immediately hide after shooting. Doesn't mean you should camp as far in the back as possible, rather use ridges or buildings to hide behind.

In the end game you have the mobility to flank (hesh in the a$$).

^ Conway with the 120mm gun can be a great sniper (although lacking shell speed with AP). It also works best from range because it has no camo, armor or a big health pool. Staying unspotted or close to hard cover is best. It can also deal great amounts of damage at short range, between the heavies. Let others take the first hit, then use your great reload time to deal 2 shots of damage without taking dmg in return. There aren't many vehicles (at tier 9 or in the game in general) that can deal such big amounts of damage in a short period of time. You only need a teammate to catch some shells.

That high dpm brawling role cannot really be done in a Charioteer. You could also use the derpy gun, I don't really know how to make use of that gun. I started with the 120mm, used the derpy gun for a little while and then went back to the 120mm gun. It fits my playstyle better.

Charioteer and Conway can be fun and effective imo, FV4005 isn't really fun imo and also not effective on the battlefield.

Perhaps I'm not the best person to give advice on game play in any capacity but for what its worth, the Charioteer form me is a keeper.  The top gun is outstanding if you can cope with the aim bloom.

All the other bits and pieces about spotting mechanics aside, I like to play it like the other fast TDs.  Essentially 'shoot & scoot'  Its got the speed to fire and then re-position very quickly keeping the enemy team at range where possible.  Mind you, I've not played it since the 'before times'.  Before the ebrs that is!

Play it like FV4005. Hunt the moment with your flank. Enemy fires, you peak, you shoot, you go back, repeat.

If not, just stay where you actually can snipe reliably (med range).

Charioteer is one of my favourite tanks (TDs).  Gun is super trollish, but then you hit a 5 shot streak where everything hits dead centre.....can be a blessing and a curse.  Get bins, GLD and rammer.  Sit 3rd line and snipe.  Relocate often and use its agility and speed to take the opportunity to flank when there's a break through or gap.  The combination of speed, pen/accuracy, camo and view range is really a rather good one.  The Conway removes the speed and camo and gives DPM or Derp, whichever you prefer.  I personally hated the Conway, didn't fit my play style at all.

Oh yeah, and forget HESH, its crazy unreliable even against soft skinned vehicles.

It's basically a tier 8 Hellcat IMO.

Scoot and shoot and scoot again, rinse and repeat, it's a mobile sniper, but its about moving quickly to a good position, setting up to shoot, shooting and then moving somewhere else.

Also remember the turret is HE pennable, most people don't seem to remember this, but some do and can easily wreck you.

Using the HESH is also important, increases your alpha and DPM, and there are loads of targets you can pen with 210mm.

I actually like it, and have kept it now even when I got myself the Conway last week. Work preety good in Frontlines eventough the gun is a bit trollish and do to often misses even perfectly aimed shots on stationary targets which will make you wanna trash your keyboard.

But playing with the 20pdr guns is a pain... So be prepared to freeXP out the bigger boomstick. Cause the first 45k XP gives you the stock gun with like 0,3s faster reload and 0,2s faster aiming. And that is all.

So 100k freeXP is needed to actually have fun with it.

Sort of, yeah. Something between a Skorp G and a Hellcat is the preferred playstyle.

Enjoy mine, Vents, Rammer, Optics and food.

As others have said use the mobility to get to good positions not to rush to your death.

It is a nice TD, although the gun can be trollish. Basically a T8 Hellcat as someone mentioned. Much better with food, but the income suffers a lot. I play it with GLD, rammer and camo net. NEVER fire until fully aimed.

Stay way back, shoot at everything red and never ever go forward unless you have a decisive advantage and are about to win, or you are loosing badly and you want one last damaging hit before you go down in a blaze of glory.

tbh, I just skip it, because I can't be bothered to grind another stock gun and then a top gun. I already experienced that on Challenger.

Think of it like a sniping medium. You get the mobility and a nice gun for sniping work but you really can't fight up close because the turret rotation is a bit tragic.

As Nuklear said, good platform, pretty fast, good gun, terrible turret rotation.

Sniping med and win win.

I kept it (with a low skilled crew apart from the commander) and think I would have much better results with a full 4 skill crew on.

One of my favorite T8 mediums.  Unfortunately you really need a good crew for it to become that. Mainly BiA, Recon, SAwareness, Smooth ride and Camo. Combine with Vents and Optics + Smooth ride directive. I don't run food on mine.

This gives you about 450m VR and manageable bloom while driving straight and you can sorta snapshot if you peek carefully. Usually follow my meds, peek from bushes if possible or let someone else with more HP take a hit.
