I watched some reviews, they claim that ST-II is extremely different to its' predecessors, while IS-3-II having no weaknesses.

Is this true?

Honestly it's pretty garbage. Incredibly sluggish, bad traverse speeds making it hard to face multiple enemies. That would be fine if it had the armor of a superheavy, but that's far from true. Paper lower plate, the upper hull and "cupola" can easily be penned by premium shells. In addition, it has abysmal armor on the top of the tank, making it susceptible to HE and artillery fire (30 mm i believe).

I had a much better time in the IS-3-II.

Edit: I made a thread a couple months ago about the tank being weak (and needing potential buffs). I was met with mixed feedback.

ST-II is significantly worse than the IS-3-2 and IMO a contender for one of the worst tier 10 HTs (especially if the proposed buffs to some older tier 10 HTs comes through), absolutely not worth it IMO.

It's very sluggish, the armor is okay when angled but the overall armor protection leaves a lot to be desired for it's type (my average blocked with IS-4 is more than 1000 higher, go figure), and the guns are...surprisingly bad. The DPM is abysmally bad, especially when you consider its inability to mount gun rammer, HEAT shell is cheeks, 440 alpha is nothing impressive for a slow tier 10 HT and it has poor accuracy and aim time. It relies on its gimmicky burst damage to rack up damage, but even then its damage racking ability feels rather slow. Hitting people for 880 is fun for sure but the novelty fears off after a few games. I'd rather play the 60TP which has a much better gun with consitent ability to do 750 damage AND better overall platform. Hell, the IS-4 after its buffs will also outclass this thing for the most part.

IS-3-2 is really great all things considered, though. Seen a lot of people have higher DPG with the IS-3-2 than they have with the ST-II. It has way better mobility than the ST-II, guns are better tier for tier and aside from much worse side armor, the armor isnt even overall that much worse (it has arguably more useful turret due to lack of tumor and the fact its a tier 9 instead of 10).

I like it. IMO is better than the tier 9 due to armour that actually can be used effectively by playing hulldown or angling. It's not as strong as IS-4 armour and the turret is not as reliable as ST-1, but overall you can survive quite a beating compared to the tier 9 pike nose. The gun has good stabilization and the standard shell is nice. It lack pen on the HEAT round, but can still do it's job. It took me quite a good number of battles to actually get the grasp of the gameplay, but now I'm starting to rise the WR and having better games damage wise.

IMO, as a fun tank, it worth.

I have ST-II and i like it actually. People treat it as a brawler HT which is not, because it have an incredible mechanic similar to auto loaders, but with armour.

I play it as a Kranvagn and i keep HPs for moments where i actually need to brawl, the armour can work but it's not promising.

The worse thing about it is the sluggish turret traverse and it's mobility, but it still fun to play.

My personal advise: If you want to have fun, keep IS-3-II and avoid the TX, but if you're a TX collecter, sure, buy it. :)

Guess I'm one of the rare people that love it.

Armor is trash against gold sure but it's pretty amazing against AP actually. Until they nerf gold ammo play a bit more passively around gold spammers.

People compare it to 60tp and its 750 dmg gun which misses the point. ST2 is more flexible because you can deal with a 300HP target and not have to wait for a 17 second reload with 880 bombs being for tanks that are caught out. Plus, 2 122mm shots into ammo have 25% chance to ammorack most tanks. I ammoracked more people from 1600 HP with ST2 in 40 games compared to E100 in 200.

Mobility is comparable to SConq. I mean it's a heavy that can delete HP, just imagine how strong it would be if it could reliably flank...

You should be able to imagine that scenario reasonably well, you played the IS3-II, to get to ST II ( I hope ).... a tank that can delete Hps and flank.

I did and I 3 marked it in the first 2 weeks. And I know that for that extra mobility IS3II trades armor. It can't sidescrape because of the pike, AP from most t9s and 10s can pen your upper plate and it's turret becomes completely useless vs gold. STII on the other hand can tank AP easily and turret can still hold out VS gold.

No.

Get the tier 9, it's great.

Unlock the Tier 10, but dont push yourself to buy it, it's not great.

I loved all double barreled tanks, but for some reason, the tier 10 just doesn't work for me.

I just don't ever get to properly put a double shot into anyone, wheras with the others, I would get plenty of chances to do so.
