There are some tanks that, for whatever reason, I seem to be unable to get to work, so I sell them and move on.

Occasionally I revisit these and can be pleasantly surprised that they seem to be a lot better now than when I played them years ago.  The Lee would be a good example.

There might be an element here of Mark Twain's comment: “When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.”

Recently I re-purchased the Wolverine, Achilles and Jagdpanther and have definitely been finding them a lot better than I had remembered, all being very effective even with unskilled crews, reasonably mobile gun platforms, even if the armour is nothing special.  I have had less success with the Hellcat.  I do remember at the time thinking that the Achilles was simply a Tier 6 version of the Wolverine - I must not have appreciated what a good gun it has.  I also wonder if I simply played these TDs too aggressively.

For Jagdpanther training I have been using my Stug IV and Dicker Max.  I know that the Stug IV is not widely liked but I have found it works pretty well, and the DM is not bad either, although a bit boring to play.

Anyone else have any resurrected tanks they found better than they had remembered?

M44 - passed straight through it on my way to the M53/M55.

Repurchased a couple of months ago and now thoroughly enjoying it.

The Sexton I is even more horrid than the M44

I think of it as The Finger of Doom.

As a long-time board wargame player I have always had a soft spot of the Jagdpanther due to the iconic box for Panzerblitz which I played as a teenager

I've not played that - looks like fun tho.

If that's your thing, I would heartily recommend this:

PB was at the time a revelation compared to the older 1960s board wargames.

1/2" counters!  4 combat values!  Geomorphic maps!  Platoon sized units!  East Front tactical!

It is probably still fun to play but with hindsight the historical aspects are now laughable.

I got lowest score in my Stug 3 g, Hated it so much I decided to stop grinding my way to jagpanzar E100, Was really looking to high that sweet alpha damage.

Today I decided to give a second go, After really enjoying T110E3.

And magically, Stug 3 G became my favourite Tank destroyer in tier 5.

Some tanks shall not be revisited, just as a reminder of how it's possible to improve as a player:

Very solid 60% win rate for a bottom 4% player.  How did you manage that?

I have xTE stats turned on in battles and it's amazing to see how the vast majority of players in any game (including me, usually) are rated as abysmal in their chosen tank.

I played my wolverine like a medium/td hybrid while marking it. Its an extremely capable tank. Even so over aggressive plays, as well as lack of game reading will get you killed in no time.
Same possible true for the achilles.

I probably don't have a "better then remembered" tank as i always skipped tanks i considered trash and sold those i just considered "meh".
I can theoretically make any turd work, but why torture myself for no reason.
