Having read the forums for many years now I cannot help feeling that all (or almost all) of the problems endlessly and ad nauseam complained about (and you all know what they are so I will not insult your intelligence by repeating them) impact only Tier X players.

My humble suggestion would be not to play at Tier X

The only game-breaking thing I have come across in 8 years of playing was the idiotic "new MM" itself based on an attempt to answer forum whines.  Until that was binned I just played low tiers as a workaround.

I actually had a break from tier 10. Sold all my tier 10's and traded them for their tier 9 counterpart of just accepted the fact I wouldn't want to play said tanks anymore.

It kind of changed when I got the M60 and want to get the legendary 1k battles in my JP E 100. But yeah, tier 10 is quite stupid atm if you ask me.

It's a shame as some T10 tanks are awesome, however the gameplay and toxicity seems to turn up to overdrive levels when everyone hits the top tier...

I play at T9 for my higher tier fix, Leo PTA and AMX 30 Proto are my current favourites.

Ive never quite understood the desire for Tier X. In my 8  or 9 years of this game I've got just 3 Tier X tanks, and one of them I purchased yesterday.

It seems to me that if you have 500hp and oppentents have 100 alpha, then 5 shots and your toast. If you have 2000hp and opponents have 400 alpha then 5 shots and you are toast. It's the same, just one is called Tier 5 and the other Tier X. With the ecconomics of running Tier X for a F2P player I understood my limits and rationalised my choices.

If you're one of those that players that find it objectionable to have to fight against higher tier tanks I suppose playing tier 10 would be your ideal.

Always top tier . That's most important thing for stats lovers. :)

I've never quite understood the desire to play T5..

There's really no difference in dealing 100 dmg to a 500hp tank compared to dealing 400 dmg to a 2000hp tank.

But it's not just that. Killing times are much shorter at lower tiers.

T5 Pz.Kpfw. III/IV 110DMG / 3,84 reload(base) / 630hp = requires 6 shots -> 19,2s

T10 M48A5 Patton 390DMG / 8,01 reload(base) / 2000hp = requires 6 shots ->40,05s

So at T10 you need/have twice the time to kill meaning that you can actually try to do stuff and don't get instantly killed.

Also this was after the HP buff which came out couple of months ago. Before that the Pz.Kpfw. III/IV had 480hp meaning that the killing time was 15,36s.

Then we have the armor. Mighty T5 heavy tank KV-1 shooting itself vs an IS-7 shooting itself:

Spoiler

KV-1 is just butter while the IS-7 actually has some armor to play around with.

P.S. IS-7 is shooting premium while KV-1 isn't.

Then we have the problem with ±2mm. It's fun to destroy lower tier tanks but what about when you meet T7? Is that fun?

I understand that F2P players can't afford to play at T10 all the time and average players also need to grind credits at T8. In my opinion the game is at it's best at T9/10.

Getting WN8 is much easier at mid tier light tanks than on T10. It's quite hard to get decent WN8 at T10 actually.

Getting good (solo) winrate is also easier to achieve when you aren't playing at T10.

T9 playing as well as an average T10 means that your team has an extra T10 tank while the enemy team doesn't.

Getting high average DMG requires you to have a lot of hitpoints so if you want to have a high average dmg you want to be top tier (TX) but you also want to all the enemies to be T10 which invalidates being "top tier".

So I don't really see why stat lovers would like to always be top tier. Unless stat lovers are players who just love any stat.

TX is there to have the ultimate configuration of a whole line. It should be vice versa honestly, T5s (or any other low tier) must be like TX now which is unbalanced because usually good players can seal club everyone.

In TX it's really hard to perform decently, because it's the end of the whole lines, but for some reasons, it's more like a real hilarious comedy where everyone can achieve it, and not only that, but also some players lose their tanks in literally no time. Leaving it to be hated and infamous.

I would recommend a ranked system for researching tanks, all they have to do is set some limitations, idk, such as missions of dealing xy damage or reaching some specific amount of xp and etc.

But if WG doesn't care, Idc too. I'll just enjoy my games with my clan and friends. :P

Agree in general that tier 9 is the sweet spot. I actually enjoy playing tiers 5-9 although they are different in terms of team expectations.

The main reason for me playing tier 10 at all is due to the campaign missions which have very high requirements that are more likely to be met in grand battles.

Played couple games at tier X over the weekend.

It is EBR fiesta. 3 per side +open maps+ 2/3 arta per side = 0 fun for anyone other than clown car drivers.

Literally worst experience in T10 I had since I started playing.

The most-significant reason for me to play any higher tiers is for the amount of available HP for missions and the guns to take it from the enemy.

I have found some tier VIII that I can play reasonably well. I have a few tier IX that I can enjoy and, again, do reasonably well with. As for tier X, there is something going on with these and I just can't play them.

I have owned the IS-7 for over five years. My first ever tier X and one that I do still have. For some reason, despite mediocre performance that didn't really deserve a positive WR, it did stay positive until the recent Tank Rewards where you received tokens for playing each tier. Loss after loss after loss after loss and NOTHING I could do would turn these battles around. Now at only 174 battles over 63 months (average 2.76 battles/month) and 48.85% WR (85 won, 89 lost/drawn)

My next tier X was the Bat Chat 25t. I took it to 150 battles of (justifiably) being criticised for being mostly useless and couldn't take any more. 48% WR (72 wins) Sold, but it did get me MT-15 (2).

Then I tried the Object 268 following it being buffed. Sold after only 44 battles and 50% WR. Sold with less average damage than the Object 704.

Then the Grille 15. DO NOT GET ME STARTED. 120 battles. 43.33% WR. 51 won. Sold.

Finally the Conqueror GC. How anyone finds SPGs attractive is beyond me. I only play(ed) them for mission objectives. The CGC was supposed to be one of the ultimate SPGs for me to use in PMs. Sold after 65 battles (won 28). Less average damage than five of my tier VIII TDs and also less than my Krupp-Steyr WT (from only two battles)

I know that the problem lies in having all of the responsibility of being top tier every time, but an SPG? BOTH sides have SPGs. BOTH are subject to the SAME RNG. Both sides rely on teams, so losses can't be entirely my fault, but I get AFK levels of WR trying my darnest to do my best.

The ONLY reason the IS-7 is still in my garage is for those rare occasions where WG require a tier X, and a tier X ONLY to complete a vital objective. Otherwise it may as well be sold or rusting without a crew (who do use the Churchill III) ammo or equipment for all the use it is.
