In order to let newbies understand their mistakes and decrease frustration of more experienced players, I propose simple mechanic - no vehicle can be destroyed with a single shot. If the shot is meant to destroy full-HP vehicle through sheer alpha, it instead leaves vehicle intact with 1 hit-point.
Crew might be stunned for about 15 seconds afterwards.
Stunning near-destroyer should get half of experience for the vehicle getting finished off with another shot as long as it is still stunned.
However, if vehicle is even once shot or scratched so that its HP is not max before taking the powerful killing blow, it gets destroyed as usual.
I have also additional proposal - full-HP vehicle should be impossible to torch or destroy by detonating ammunition rack.
However, even if vehicle has full HP, said modules can still be damaged - just the fuel tank and ammo rack won't be possible to go down to red level of damage. Engine would basicly have 0% chance to cause a fire as long as HP is full before being shot.
Alternate primary proposal - vehicle can be "one shot" by either of these means, but instead of immediate shutdown, it can still fight for a dozen or so seconds, or until it gets a damaging hit another time.

They do understand their mistake, they got shot by something big. The solution to which is next time they see something big, don't get shot by it.

Case in point: Newbies very quickly learn not to frontally engage a KV2.

I don't see the point. Since the recent low-tier HP buff the potential for literal one-shots is reduced so much that it's not really an issue anymore.

Low tier tanks already have their hitpoints increased to give newer players more room for mistakes, and to learn from them without being send back instantly by a derp or getting clipped. The problem here is players rushing up the tiers without taking the time to learn more about the game.

The derp guns at low levels are bad for this. Hetzer with the derp should never ever be allowed in a match with Tier 3s for example, and the MM really should take steps to stop that stuff. Normal pewpew setup sure.

It might be fun to the hetzer player but from a player versus player situation it is absolutely absurd that it can happen in an online multiplayer game.

So you want to remove one of the most satisfying moments in the game.!

I strongly disagree.

I think the contrary - oneshots should be more frequent.

It makes sense both logically and emotionally. Realism.

No absolutely not.

SerB would be horrified by your suggestions and no doubt rant at you for the sacrilegious idea that SU-152 and KV-2 cannot blast other players back to the garage.

Either you learn how to read the lineups at the thirty second count down at the start of the match, or you will continue to make mistakes.

I played a KV-2 game last night on airfield while waiting between clan wars matches and a Cromwell chose to go to the heavy area and peek a corner. I hope he learnt the lesson;

I usually play heavily armoured vehicles at mid tier that can't be oneshot easily, like hijacked Panthers or heavy tanks.
At other times I rape KV-2s backs with speedy Leopard, or snipe them with paper sniper that KV-2 can hardly see.
In flanker medium I just run away or hide, and harass derp when he turns the turret away, but most of the time I'm on a flank where there are no KV-2s or O-Is.
Personally, I wouldn't gain much.
My proposal was mainly for the sake of newcomers.

In War Thunder there are one-shots all time.
For some reason, many people prefer arcade-y approach with hitpoints.

Being nearly dead with 1 HP and stun doesn't sound like encouragement to go on.
It allows to retreat and try different tactics during the same battle.

Killing something dangerous with shitty tank is satisfying.
Killing shitty tank with sheer overkill Hetzer or KV-2 is sorta dirty to me.
Like, the enemy can't even retaliate.

The amount of super hellcats brawling with kv2 doesn't really seem to correlate with that statement.

But then again.. might be just people with masochistic urges that take pleasure for being utterly bad, or sadistic urges for taking pleasure from making teams purposely loose each time they click battle.

So you are actually proposing newbie protection. You lost the game because he had 1 HP left vs your 152mm.

Then again, you wanna learn, you gotta do mistakes. Having the game ease those mistakes so you live, won't team most of them anything tbh. As two things will happen if Steve gets hit and left on 1 HP. He will either do the same mistake again 10 seconds later. Or hide there for the rest of the game doing nothing. So what difference does it make?

Lower tiers just got a massive HP buff so even 105 derps can't one-shot them anymore. It's enough for now.

Would literally not make a difference, since you're pretty much guaranteed to get 2+ shells from campers whenever you get spotted.
