EDIT - Ignore Header, I was having a senior moment there

Like many other grognards here, I was gifted a Super Hellcat a while back.  I played it a few times, hated it, and it was left to gather dust.  The joke since then has been that the side with the most Super Hellcats will lose, and there is some truth in that, I think.

However, a few weeks ago I re-purchased a Wolverine and gave it a new 75% crew that needed training, so since then I have used the SH a few dozen times.  To my great surprise, once you get the hang of it the thing is actually quite effective.  I try and do a bit of long range sniping (rammer, binos, camo) with it and then exploit if I can, using its amazing 70 kph speed.  Mine now has a couple of Tank Sniper medals and 10 Sharpshooters, and last night it was, in several games, merrily cruising round enemy rear areas and blowing up and spotting some very surprised arty.

What has definitely helped, given that it only carries 30 shells, was loading it with full premium ammo.  I know that this is a bit wet of me, but trying to get pens with the AP was too painful, and even the APCR is not exactly amazing.  Anyway, it's now up to 56% wins, which I think is not bad for such a despised tank.

I know that's the common perception, but I have really been finding it not at all bad, and getting decent results, even using it as a trainer with rotten crews.

Speed, view range, turret rotation, camo values, accuracy are all good to excellent, the only thing really lacking is dpm and pen, and APCR goes some way to mitigating the poor gun.

There are Secrets that Hamsters were not meant to Know.

Ancient Tome of Insight: Written in Gerbil, 75% Knowledge Skill needed to read; or Luck Roll vs Hamster Language Skill.  Reading the Tome provides deep insight into the Mythos and reveals the True Age of any Hamsters present.  Gain 1D10 Mythos Knowledge but lose 2D6 SAN.  Opening the clasp that secures the book also summons a Fungi from Yuggoth.  Unless a Binding Spell is cast, the creature will attack the Adventurer

Fungi from Yuggoth | Marvel Database | Fandom

Meanwhile my SH continues to do a perfectly adequate job today as a trainer, now with a no-skill 75% Hellcat crew

The 20 kph reverse speed is also quite handy compared to the 10 kph on the Hellcat

In the days of the British Empire we traditionally reserved the last bullet for ourselves (or our wife, if present)

While I agree that 30 shells is ridiculously low, the combination of slow dpm and my own ineptitude means that I have not (yet) run out in battle.
