I am probably missing something very basic, but do enlighten me, please.

Players are stating that due to Equip 2.0, bounty equipment will no longer hold its promise of being better than standard equipment, thus a bad move on WG...?

Could someone explain this to me? Essentially, we buy improved pass for the bounty equipment. How exactly does Equip 2.0 takes a toll on this? As in Bounty is the same as Purple Equipment when upgraded.

What am I missing?

I may get the terminology confused, but last I heard bounty was better than standard, but not as good as improved. If confirmed, I would never buy Battle Pass again. It might all change / have been changed though.

Not really. As the % it gives is now dependent on where you place it... Here is the deal. Equitment now is divided in to categories. Like survival or mobility, and vets that is considered a universal kit as it covers all 4 categories. HTs have a survival bonus slot, and mediums have a mobility bonus slot. That is a slot that gives a bonus to the class category, and only appears on tier 6+ tanks. So if you place vents on that first slot on any tank. You get 6% vs the usual 5%. Or you get 2km more top speed, as in 4 vs the usual 2 if you place a turbo on the first slot in a medium, vs in slot 2 or 3. So all equipment can get a boost if placed in that slot that fits the class category.

Now bond vents if placed in that slot goes up to 8,5% from the current 7.5%. So no. Standard equitment even in that bonus slot will still not be better then bond equitment, and bond equitment can be placed in the same slot to be even better. Also keep in mind that now equitment is not locked to the slot it's given. You can move them around to give the bonus to what you want depending on what you need etc. As in repair time, vs hitpoints on the survial slot on, or even go for the extra on vents in your T95 etc.

Bounty and Bond equipment are currently the same. With Equipment 2.0 Bounty equipment will retain its current stats, but WG plan to buff Bond equipment to make a 3 tier system. Standard - > Bounty - > Bond.

As far as I recall, here's how it works:

  • Standard Equipment has a base bonus just as on live. For example, Improved Ventilation gives a +5% bonus. However, if you use it in a specialist slot (in the case of Improved Ventilation any single one will do) the bonus increases to +6%.
  • Bounty Equipment has a base and an improved bonus just as on live. Assuming it hasn't been upgraded, it's the same as Standard Equipment; assuming it has been upgraded, this base bonus is bigger than Standard Equipment. Bounty Ventilation, if not upgraded, offers a +5% bonus, and +7,5% if upgraded. Inserting Bounty Equipment in a specialist slot doesn't further improve the bonus.
  • Improved Equipment has a base bonus that is greater than currently on live. Just like Bounty Equipment, this doesn't increase further from its baseline by being inserted in specialist slots, but it is the biggest bonus that one can receive. In the case of Bond Ventilation, this will be +8,5%, as opposed to +7,5% on live.
