Watching that Dr Who YouTube vid, TBH I liked Matt Smith the best, can't get away with the latest new Dr.

On a side note watched Robots again yesterday, now that is a very funny kids movie.

Just watched Blade Runner, again, last night and it’s still an excellent film. The only part I find jarring in the tech department, which is a common problem of older sci-fi films, the computer displays.

Have you seen 2049?

I can count the sequel films I think surpass the original on one hand, despite how much I love Blade runner, 2049 truly is a masterpeice of sound, vision and emotion for me.

2049 - watched it at the cinema, bought the DVD, watched it three more times, so yes you could say I like it. I was pleasantly surprised at just how good it is for a sequel. It captures much of the feeling of the original while still being a film in it’s own right. Do I think it’s better, that has to be a no for me as it suffers from the same problem all sequels from groundbreaking films suffer. They are no longer ground breaking.

As we are talking about sequels, the one that really disappointed was Das Boot. For me that completely missed the reason the original was so good. It’s the interaction between the characters with the mundane interspersed with tension. My better half watched it with me for the first time and during episode five asked, does this end badly. I had to lie and say no everything turns out fine.

Thanks for the reminder, Das Boot, I will have to watch it again, I have 2 copies, one is a vhs from when it originally came on the telly, the other is a dvd but of that same original series in German, and subtitles, it is brilliant!

If you haven’t already seen it I can recommend Stalingrad, just remember to get the subtitled not dubbed version. For something a bit more off the wall there’s Come and See.

Off topic but it springs to mind, Jabster did you recommend a book to me called 100 Years of Tank Evolution, by Richard Okogorwicz? If so, I have just read it, very good book!

Quite possibly as it’s a book I do recommend for anyone interested in the history of tanks. It get’s that balancing act right between being engaging while also presenting facts. If you want a book I wouldn’t recommend. Mosquito: Menacing the Reich. Absolutely as dull as ditchwater - just page after page of this many aircraft did this and this many were lost etc.

Edit: Forgot to mention it, glad you enjoyed the book.
