So I had to replace my laptop. First thing lets install WoT so I can play Ranked in the evening. Guess what? I am downloading SD client (14GB) on avg at 60KB/s. Thinking something is wrong with my internet I go to my friends house who has got great connection. The same result. Opening a ticket with WG support, tshooting my laptop config and internet connection I get this as a resolution:

SOLVED

Hello Commander Aston1sh!

Thank you for contacting Wargaming.net player support again.

Unfortunately our download is based on peer to peer data transfer. As you mentioned torrents you must know exactly how it works.
Sadly download speed might wary, I can suggest setting your Game Center download options to these visible on the screen below. (image of "unlimited" dl settings)
Image(

With all these options copied to your GC you will be at least sure, that you do not restrict your download in any way.
I hope that it will improve your download speed.

If you would have any additional questions, don't shy away from contacting us again.

Good luck on the battlefield!

Best regards,

What battlefield are they talking about? I cannot even download the game :D Considering the cash I spent in game they cannot even run a mirror dl server? This is hilarious.

I can't think of anything witty to say here now.

Maybe tomorrow.

They are running a seedbox which is basically a DL server for p2p network.

How cheap is a seedbox compared to a normal server ?

I have never had any problems with P2P.

Maybe it is your ISP? Some cheap [donkey] ISPs restrict P2P speeds.

I can torrent just fine. But anyway thats not the issue here in my opinion. Considering there are these donkey ISPs why would WG even think about implementing this? We all know how much cash is flowing their way, how expensive can it be to rent some mirrors and traffic... it is just sad.

Now imagine you are a new player and you see this.

The question is, how many others are having this problem?

Try different ports and double check that DL speed is not limited in game center.

Firewall turned off = all ports open, DL speed unlimited :) I went through all the troubleshooting with WG support

The Game center updated while ago and no problems.

If it is not you or WG, then the problem lies between you two.

That is a good question. The download for me occasionally jumps to 2.7MB/s (my top speed) but very rarely. Usually it runs between 0.5 - 200 KB/s. Now downloading 14 GB for SD version you can imagine hehe. Anyway, since I got no link to the game files from WG support, I will just drive to a friend and copy the files from him. This solution is tested and it works.

There are possible causes.

1. WG Servers, in which case many players, if not most, would be having the same problem.

2. Your equipment, but again unlikely as you would have noticed it before.

3. Your ISP connection, again not that likely although it is possible.

4. Some sort of bottleneck on the Internet between your ISP and the WG ISP. This is the most likely as the route passes through many hubs or nodes, any of which could be overloaded, or having hardware failures, or even poor connection to the next node in the chain.

That is why Pingplotter is useful, it can identify such a bottleneck.

Game center is fine, try downloading the game? Try selecting download "another instance", it is somewhere in Game Settings in the GC. If this works for you fine then it must be my ISP :-/

I was trying to solve this with WG support, did pingplotter tests, no packet loss or anything came up.
Ad 4. I dont see this as a problem between WG ISP and my ISP. They clearly stated this is a P2P download - therefore I am downloading from other players. So this depends on the others peers upload limits. Or am I wrong here?

No thank you.

Installing WoT takes 12h on my machine.

They are running it on their servers so it's the same. P2P is just more flexible and safer because even if downloads are interrupted you can just resume it, damaged files can be repaired without downloading again, etc. Sharing updates between users is also enabled by default so I guess it saves them quite a bit on data transfer (which isn't cheap).

Do Wargaming even care about the problems the players have....... of course not, so why ask the question?
