More assault maps

Hello,

 

Recently I put assault mode back on as I am in love with it, but I want few more maps for it

 

I think Fishermans bay but with the base in the city and the 2 spawn attack points in the top left and bottom right corner would be fun 

 

Kharkov with the base in the central town and the 2 spawn points on both hills

 

Overlord

 

Have base in centre 9 line and spawn all over the beach for attackers

Thank God for the "Disable assault mode" button, saves me the nerves.

 

Except if it's Siegfried Line, that map is cool in my book.

 

But no, please, less assault. Less victories in 1:30 mins.

The average battle duration in my 1214 recorded battles is 6 minutes 55 seconds (avg battle tier 7.9).

 

The average duration of assault battles (only 131 battles - so even when active it's only 1/10) is 6 minutes 52 seconds (avg battle tier 7.9 as well).

 

So, the impact on battle duration is small, and probably more due to the average not benefiting from the occasional 15 minute draw rather than the battles being quicker.

All campy 14 minute games seem horrible to me.

 

Looking at only the 12 minute plus battles (47): 40.4% win rate - 2206 WN8 seems to confirm long battles are generally just that. Long periods of doing nothing.

For comparison, only looking at sub-5 minute battles, I manage 2237 WN8, so really, there's no difference between what you actively do in a 4 minute battles compared to a 14 minute battle apart from the fact that you did 10 minutes of waiting.

So why exactly is a 14 min game of which you spend 10 sat in a bush waiting to see who gets bored first better than the 5 min game where you actually get to do something?

Put as many Assault mode maps in as you want. I have had this (and Encounter) blocked for over six years. I enabled it to try and achieve missions and managed maybe one battle before disabling it again.

Never enjoyed assault. With the mindset of randoms, it just doesn't work. Played Encounter until the WoTP was introduced and ever since have been playing Standard only.

I have Assault mode unchecked (although it's an "easy Kolobanov" mode), Encounter still enabled. Often, teams are clueless about how to play it and what is the point, or where's the base...

that is true, I find however with platoons assault can be much more rewarding than randoms, Karela today we were top tier with T25 at king tiger and panther 

 

defence on karela 

 

King tiger baited them I sniped in t25 at and my friend ing anther flanked, only in assault would we be able to so effetely mold the game in our favour

Try the 7-11 minute mark for that as a sweet spot, depending on the map and tier.

Most maps have had enounter and assault variants before that was removed. But it was a mess, even when they moved the cap around. Some had a 70% WR on one side forcing it out of the rotation.

 

Some maps are great for randoms, but don't work well for other modes. As Mountain pass and Westfield were proof of. Mountain pass had the cap under the bridge for Encounter. And is arguably the worst Encounter map of all time. Westfield had the cap at the K0 corner with the attackers in town. Basically forcing the enemy to cross the gap in the open to get there. Defenders won more or less every game. It's almost beaten by the hill assault on Malinovka. Even when they had the cap in town it was a mess. I won so many games forcing Lowes etc to go circles around the houses there to drag out the time it was silly. 

 

Overlord would be a loss instantly as the attackers has to push up the beach via a few corridors defended on the high ground. Fast movers would lock the HTs instantly. And I'm sure you know how Fishermans bay is late game when one team has town attacking across the field for that be fun or balanced I suspect. As then, the entire enemy team is in town, not just a few struggles when they get flanked.
