In honor of the game’s 10th Anniversary, we’re unbanning the majority of players who have been permanently banned for rules violations.

So why not ban some players who hasn't broke rules?

That would make as much sense.

What part of "permanent" you do not understand?

Seems reasonable.

If you were just a pain in the game ie persistently team killing so much so you did lot learn the lesson from turning blue getting an hours days weeks and finally permanent ban.

You are forgiven but if you start up again you are gone for good.

If you used an illegal mod that's different no forgiveness that's cheating rather than being an idiot you are still banned.

Indeed, if you used illegal mods... no amnesty for you :)

How about doing the same for the forum then, so we can get back some people with actual personalities? They often just fell foul of zealots lacking either English skills or a sense of humour.

We don´t have plans do to any amnesty on the forums, but thanks for the suggestion.

Stop calling players permanently banned then, such as in latest wave .Call them "Temporarily permanently banned"

When I read the headline, I thought no flipping way, but it doesn't seem too objectionable. Just see if we see an influx of disruptive players.

This is a very good suggestion. Some of the previous moderators did not have English as a first language and some of their decisions based on syntax, usuage and slang are highly questionable. There are any number of amusing forum posters to the English language section of the forum who should be unbanned as they were often insightful and helpful in their posts.

Nice, let the "violators" to do what they did before. I would say that who ever at WG thought such a move he is just a delusional moron.

If not, I suspect "the love for money" would be the other reason to let the "violators" free again.

Either way, WG people only ad another layer to their wrongdoings.

First new Referral program, and now this. There are better ways to get players to return to game, like actually improving the game.

I'm glad you only chose to pardon the sort of ''lesser'' reasons people get banned for and refused the serious rule violations. I still don't really think this is a good idea though. I hope you will at least ban players from now on at the same rate that you for example dealt with chat violations some time ago when there was a massive surge of complain topics of being chat banned on the forums. There might be people who have learnt their lesson but there definitely is those who haven't, and those should be swiftly banned again if and when they keep breaking the rules.

you can't give somebody a second chance again technically, it would be a third or forth chance by then :P

Those people got permanently banned for use of illegal mods and that kind of bans aren't even being pardoned, so they will be permanently banned. I recommend to read the article.

This is pretty amazing, even by WG standards.

If some of those banned people were still into the game, I'm sure they already have another account. So you are creating this PR shtstorm basically for nothing. It's not like someone who got banned 5 years ago will suddenly come back because of this.
