There seems to be 2 ways of getting a worthwhile tank with your bonds, either grinding through ranked until you qualify to buy one or bidding for one in a CW bond auction.

About 4% of accounts are in clans historically, and I can't imagine the number of players playing ranked can be too much higher, given it's played in the credit sink of tier X and generally a pretty disliked game mode.

So the vast majority have the option of buying a tank from the bond shop, which its clear now will only ever be stocked with obsolete premiums that can't be sold for gold any more,

with the possible exception of the Patriot which I'm still a little tempted by. Or there's the alternative option of buying improved equipment, something I refrained from doing in the past because I thought something better was coming along, but it seems it isn't. Given I don't want to hold onto 30k bonds any longer I guess it's time to think about the Patriot and improved equipment.

So if you play ranked or CW, fair enough I can see why you'd want bonds but for the huge majority of players they really don't hold all that much value imo. I re-roll daily missions that have them as rewards.

Obviously a bonds value will vary from individual to individual but I think there's a general perception of 'OOOoooooo! Bonds' where 'Meh! Bonds' would be more accurate.

I re-roll daily missions for get bonds if possible. Besides that I only go for free xp and credits. The rest I don't care much about.

I mean, the kpz 50t is quite fun to play, so its not exactly meh.
But yeah wg will probably come up with another ingame currency before the bond shop "refreshes" with completely new tanks, so they are kinda pointless to save ( Unless you got like 60k and cant get a decent cw tank other way)

They will probably have more value after the next patch when improved equipment is so much obviously better as they have buffed it and you get that max bonus regardless of slot.

idk about the players but I'm pretty certain that WG thinks we should be super excited about bonds

This basically. If you don't have a firepower slot on your tank, (most won't), then bond equipment becomes your friend.

I you're a long time player WG gives thousands away every year for their 'well deserved reward' event.

Plus of course, how long will it take WG to start releasing bounty and bond versions of the new equipment? Want 12.5% extra engine power on any of your tanks? Better start saving those bonds.

Why would anyone want that?!
Mobility is good for a heavy, but meh at best on a medium, the gun is either bad or meh in all aspects(Pen, DPM,alpha, gun handling) and the armor is useless with such big lower plate and the freakin' polish tankette that sits on top of the turret and it doesn't even get 400m view range like the 59/Patton.

Patriot is week and HT have the worst MM, better take a medium tank. I just took Patriot and now I'm sorry that I've wasted bonds.

I asked Dwigt about this in the Equipment 2.0 thread and he confirmed there would be improved versions of the new equipment in the future. More reasons to save your bonds I guess. Maybe we'll see Bond aim units with 10% better aim or something.

I've never spend any bonds, I was told they were valuable so I waited for something good. Currently I have 17k, but still waiting for something half decent to buy..

So far, I've never had "too many" bonds. And I play very actively and participate in pretty much every event trying to go for the highest rewards.

I bought the M60 and 121B so far.
Planning to get the KampfPanzer 50t and Progetto skin in 2 day.

After that I got plenty of grinding to do to get the IS-5 and KV.

So I'm pretty much always looking for bonds and I value them a good bit.

With that said, reaching Division 2 in ranked is by no means insanely hard.

I've seen plenty of fools making their way to division 1 and even finishing division 1 (myslef included)

The thought that the ability to buy the KampfPanzer 50t is some insanely unrealistic task to achieve is a myth.

You definitely have to pay a big price of 20k bonds though. But at least you could theoretically buy the tank.

I myself am just a couple of battles away from saving myself 6k bonds on buying the tank with discounts from missions.

That is a point, probably best to wait and see how Equip 2.0 pans out before wasting bonds on existing equipment. Don't know whats best as things stand as I've never participated in CT.

I bought the Liberte for cash and ended up trading it away so it can't be any worse than that. I guess I have the T34b, which I actually enjoy, so Patriot may be a bit redundant anyway.

I bought some improved equipment, back when it was a new thing but decided I wouldn't notice if I wasn't using it. But having bonds sitting around doing nothing feels even more pointless tbh.

I played ranked a few times when they introduced it as a game mode and just hated it, to me it was just like randoms with an insanely annoying chevron mechanic and irritating game play and I've never looked at the thing since. TBH the opportunity to buy tanks for bonds wouldn't even induce me to play it, nothing against people who like it, it just isn't for me.

The M60 and 121B I can definitely live without.

Yeah it is rather pointless. I was waiting initially for the bond shop, then I was waiting for the bond shop changes. Now I'm considering getting a tanks for bonds to use as trade-in, so now I'm waiting for trade-in, but I expect to be dissapointed with the tank options and again just keep my bonds :harp:

If you keep bonds for 5 years or more they should convert to 'antique bonds' and be worth more.
