Can someone explain to me how exactly it works? I'm receiving the same amount of dmg from arties and HE shells from enemies.

Was trying it out on the vk 100, I am still receiving around 400-500 from enemy arties of tier 8 to 10 and doesnt seem to do anything agaisnt HE shells (lowe just me twice with HE dealing 100 on avg)... I cant really get it.

(ignore all other bonuses, jsut focus purely on HE dmg)

The one on the live server does not have a big effect. Wait until the patch comes this week and then compare it in a training battle, asking a friend to shoot you with arty

It literally does nothing, I'm receiving the same amount of dmg from arty whether its ground splash or direct hit.

To be fair, the super heavy spall liner in 2.0 is basically the same as on live server. It gain a little bit if mounted in the survivability slot, but that's all.

On topic. The spall liner is a multiplier for the armour protection. A super heavy SL add 50% more effective armour against non penetrating HE.

The point is that HE have a splash damage and the point with higher potential damage is used to calculate the HP loss. Arty usually hit the top of the tanks, easily hitting or splashing low armoured engine decks and turret roofs. SL has very few effect on that. But is very effective against direct fire HE, especially if you manage to bite the enemy on shooting a thick slab with no splashing.

Lets see... Eample the M40/43.. shot my upper frontal plate for 392 with the spall liner on.. I dont get these calculations... It ttechnically should have been half of that.

No. VK100 UFP is 200mm thick. M40/43 high damage gun has 1050 alpha.

The damage calculation is then:

(Alpha/2)-(200*1.1*1.5)= 175

This is on avarage.

With the max roll we get: 301.25 HP

The fact you got 392 is likely due to a hit on the turret front, splashed on the engine deck (50mm with 422HP avarage damage so a slight low roll).
