Block Quote

Unprovoked, Nazi tanks storm across the Polish border, hailing the start of a new era of war, Blitzkrieg, and the beginning of history's bloodiest conflict.

The title makes it sound like the invasion of Poland was a very good thing for the first half hour.....Perhaps rephrase that? :)

I could never understand why Poland and France fell so fast after playing Hearts of iron 3. Poland and France seem to block Jerry from moving every time in that game, then wipe them out after re-enforcements arrive.

Indeed.

On the other hand I wonder how WOT will present USSR invasion of Poland (17 days after Germany's attack) :)

WG defines one of the darkest moments in history as "the finest half hour".

Sure, we all know the complete and utter incompetence of this company, but even for them, this is something new.

Wargaming, wtf is wrong with you guys?

snippet of trivia I read in a model painting book. The Germans found the white cross was making their tanks too easy to see and hit so they changed it after a few months.

Well, considering most of the 1939 Soviet-occupied area was eventually added to Belarus in 1945 they might consider it a happy occasion.

I feel really happy for Richard aka the Challenger. It's always nice when you see someone follow his passion and actually succeed.

"The Invasion of Poland" and only Nazi tanks on the pictures? So where are the Soviet tanks? Poland was devided by Nazis and Soviet Union on the 23th of August by signing Ribentrop and Molotov pact protocols. Soviets invaded Poland soon after Nazis. This resulted in "Katyn Massacre" (sorry if I misspeled location name, am not Polish myself). Over 24 000 Polish officers and oficials were shot in the back of the head so that they would not build a resistance against Soviets.

"Finest falf hour" my a s s ... incompetent fools...

Where is your PA? How could you let this message out?!

I guess this is not in russian/belarus history books. Everyone who works for wargaming is re-educated with "proper soviet history".

And if someone brings up US/Russia bad deeds, both sides can only say "YES BUT THE OTHERS DID IT TOO!!!!!"

Britain simply stays quite and no one notices a big crate with "colonial history" written on it.

Won't even start on china.

For what it is worth, I am glad the enlightened of my fellow germans don't hide from the country's history, learning about the crimes of its past and making sure it won't happen again. At least once the others collapse into war and chaos again, we will die with dignity.

You are very wrong, mate. But what realy Germany had back that in abundace is stupidity. Plain stupidity. If all that energy that they spent on waging war and massacres would have been spent on building up their nation, education and science, it would have been now the greatest country on the planet Earth. But instead they lost everything: architecture, teritory, people and worst - the culture. And on top of that - now even 3rd generation is suffering from guilt mentality.

Well, you'll find the same for slavery back in the 1700-1800 or something, no one left alive had any hand it that yet one still somehow needs to feel guilty for it.

Then I ask myself, why not just go back further, just go past the Middle Ages, back before Christ so *EVERYONE* has to feel guilty for something.

Making sure it never happens again is a very good thing, artificially knee-capping yourself because of "past guilt" is not really. One just needs to be aware what happened, nothing more, nothing less.

This. Germany used to be THE cultural powerhouse of europe, even England saw Germany as capital of the world.

Had Germany continued in that spirit instead of supporting Austria in WW1 and starting WW2, there's no telling where things could be right now.

Not to mention that contrary to popular depictions, they actually got their butt kicked (comparatively, considering the difference in military strength) immediately after their invasion, despite their element of surprise, superior numbers and technology.

The polish soldiers fought like lions in WW2.

"The finest half hour" XD

The finest WG's wording.

Imagine calling the beginning of one of the greatest tragedies in human history - the finest.

Like, this company is incredible in a way, every time you think they can't disappoint you anymore and yet they consistently and successfully manage to do exactly that.

Slow claps from me.
