Please excuse me if this sounds like an amateurish question, but I am a relative newcomer to WoT. I don't know if it's been asked before, or if there's already a forum for it.
Being British myself and proud of my nation's military prowess throughout the centuries, I was hoping that if we do get a British tech tree I'd be able to respecialise the existing USA tanks that I've researched and exchange them for British counterparts as far as possible.
If there had been British tanks available when I first started playing then I would have chosen them over the USA, but as the USA was the nearest to the British I went with that nation over the Germans, Russians and now the French. Apart from the fact that The British and Americans both have English has their native tongue, they were also the main allies.
However, I really don't want to start all over again by researching the British tech tree from scratch (well, I would if I had to), so I would really love if the game developers allowed us a free respec (or even a Premium one), so that I can sell all my American tanks for credits and the respective experience, so that I can then re-spend them in a British tech tree. I have also bought gold to buy premium services etc, so it would be nice if this could be honoured.
Is this going to be possible please?

You could use free xp.

Of all the xp you earn ingame, an additional 5% is awarded as free xp, that can be used on any tank in any tree. Since the brittish tree is still quite some time away, you could save up your free xp and skip, or at least elite, a significant number of lower tiers. A lot of people do so. Besides, having access to higher tiers gives you more credits to spend on crew and equipment than a clean newbie would have. As a respec per se, I doubt it.

Other than that, the British tree will not be arriving soon, so as long as you're here, might as well play something. Plenty of very fun tanks in all trees.

I strongly doubt it, I would love them too, but I doubt they would. When the British tech tree arrives I reckon I'll have a massive stockpile of Free Exp ready for them. I got 450K at the moment, which I'll most likely be using to buy a Maus. Depends if I reach the launch point for that or the British Arrive first.

Well there should be separate tree line of the British Shermans because they are different to the American built versions instead of M4A1, A2, A3 and so on the British have Sherman I, II, III, IV, v then the Sherman MK Vc firefly. And if you would be allowed to get them from the US Shermans would be lovely but it is highly unlikely as they are of a different nation. I think they should as the British Shermans originate from the US series of Shermans.

The British names match up with the various M4 designations. There's no real progression.

Yeah as far as i'm aware, the Firefly was the only Sherman which was actually changed by the British.

Nice idea but in my limited dealings with WG no way this will happen. My only ticket with them was to suspend my prem acct for a month when I went on holiday. Their answer was no. 1 month of a 6 month purchase gone.

I think there is no use of adding an British tank line becaus they r not realy very different from U.S.A tanks :/

Really, how so.

The British used US tanks it is true but at no time was it totally equipped with US tanks. There is a linear progression through a British line (albeit using some Commonwealth vehicles at times due to production capacity).

Similar to lend-lease to Russia, the mostly unmodified American tanks used by Britain should be premiums, i.e. Stuart, Sherman.

The Lee with its conversion to the Grant is more tricky as I believe its a British conversion. So either a premium or a standard tank.

The M3 'Grant' was the version ordered by the British Government with the turret-mounted .30cal removed, the cupola replaced by a hatch and a bustle added at the rear of the turret for a No. 19 wireless set, which removed the need for the 7th crew member, the wireless operator as the commander did the job. It wasn't a 'British conversion' as such but the requirements of a customer being met by the manufacturer.

I agree with diadochi, the Lend-Lease tanks should really be amongst the Premium tanks in the British/Commonwealth tree (including the Grant in my opinion), as there are far more than enough prototypes, designs, models etc to create a full British/Commonwealth tree without the Lend-Lease tanks included.

:Smile_glasses:
well
Tetrach
Matilda
Valentine
Cromwell
Comet
Churchill
Covenator
...to name a few... area all 100% British and commonwealth

why did they add French tanks using your logic, they are mostly all post war and prototypes in the game, they didn't even include the French Churchills and Shermans (lend lease post 1944)

I, like a real man, will be horribly lazy, wont grind any credits or free exp for them, and will just grind trough them like a boss.

No British soldier would ever waste tea on the enemy.  The British Army runs on tea.  Modern British AFVs and Tanks have a built in water boiler to make tea with.

This is wrong if 8.1 brings Brits because that will hit sometime at November :Smile_ohmy:
