200 pen at tear IX feels bad.

Not really. I play it occasionally with 30%-70% ammo layout, shooting mostly HEAT.

AP is only useful in -1 nd -2 MM battles.

It is a good tank. Decent speed, some armor, ok gun handling, and wild DPM.

The penetration is sufficient for going up against medium tanks and not other heavily-armored tanks. If not you can always use your 330mm HEAT.

It is a good all around vehicle for a tier 9 med.

I like Leo PTA and Standard B more.

I dont use much gold ammo in it, maybe with a full loadout it can perform better.

not good, not bad; I have about 40/60 with the 219 pen gun.

 

like all russian meds... not stellar, not bad, not particularly good at anything.

It's a nice tank. Even without excessive heat spamming. The RoF is nice to permatrack enemies.

It's a good tank I used 100mm D-54 and 3 marked using that gun and I would recommend using that gun because the gun handling is good with that gun and std penetration of 219. The 100mm D10T2s requires lot of heat and gun handling is pretty bad but gives you extremely good DPM and +1 gun depression better use food also if you use that gun.

I 3rd marked mine recently after ~850 battles - T-54 was my first tier 9 from 2012.

 

To make T-54 absolute killer machine you need: The Obj140 gun with faster fire rate and 201mm pen, bond/bounty vert stabs, bounty optics and bounty rammer. Food etc, everything to make gun handling better.

 

And then you shoot the HEATs like crazy.

I loved it back in the day.

But I doubt it's still playable without HEAT nowadays.

Back when I played it, tanks actually still had weakspots, and you could actually flank an enemy without getting sniped by 3 Skorpions and a Progetto.
