277 and 705a look good, but aint sure, what to push in general?
i only played german heavies but the flat armor makes the russian slopped turrets look appealing

There is not a definitive answer to which tank should one be grinding. It all depends on what playstyles you have/ like.
If you like driving around in a very fast heavy tank, with good mobility, but also having a quite trollish gun, almost completely unreliable hull armor, decent turret armor, go for the 277.
If you like a slower heavy tank with not very good mobility, which allows you to play safer, utilize your decent side armor and good turret armor, and just shooting at your enemies whenever you have a shot, but having a quite long reload, not 340mm HEAT penetration, then go for the 705A.
i would go for the 277 i see you only played 650 games.
The 705Aline is a heavy with a turret in the back it has a different playstyle than normal heavy's.
(they good in side scraping but horrible on hilly terrain due to the turret in the back and offcourse on gun depression.
The 277 is the overall better tank for most maps. especially as a beginning player.
I would recommend staying at low tiers for a long time before considering approaching high tiers.
Try out different kinds of lines, find out what you like, learn the mechanics and have fun.
High tiers are nothing to look forward to, especially when you're a new player.
From the top of my hat, start at around KV1, IS and decide wether you like those. Just for the fun of it, unlock KV2 and see of you like that. From there many options in the russian heavy line are unfolding themselves
IS-7 looks quite easy to play. 705A is a dedicated sidescaper, 277 is skill-dependant, weak upper plate. IS-7 looks like more or less balanced and all-around, with decent armor, good speed and the best gun depression of these three.

You have played 20 tanks in a game that has about 350. You have played a total of 662 battles.
As a beginner in a very rich and complex game the best advice is not to aim at tier X for a very long time.
The highest tier tank that you have played is the Tiger II on tier VIII.
If you are looking at USSR heavy tanks then play the KV1, KV2 and IS. Each of them in different ways is good in their tier. Play them until you are comfortable with them and your win rate is at least 49% before moving on.
The IS3, IS-M and KV-4 once elite are all different and powerful in tier VIII. If you play those three for at least a minimum of 100 games each and then make sure that you have at least a 49% win rate in each of them , you will have a better idea about which line to slowly move up.
Make sure that you develop a crew with good perks for each tank. As you move up the tiers the crew perks become more important.
I would recommend also IS7, as first tier 10 for everyone.
But how about something like E100, if you are grinding German heavies anyway? It's a pretty good tank.
What arthurwellsley said.
I would also add that you should forget about existence of higher tiers until you are able to complete STUG campaign with tiers 5-6, and completing campaign missions while playing randoms is gonna be a great motto for you.
SU-100, KV-1, KV-2, T-3485, T-50 are all but great tanks to have fun in. And you have plenty of similar premium tanks to support your account economy.

Why not IS-4?
I am also new player and I feel powerful in IS-4
Hardening, Spall liner, V stab. and charge into enemies like maniac xD
decided to go with the meduims, tired of the slow tanks
i started grinding the stb1, the object 140 is solid but the stb1 is the best medium tank.
thx for the replies

Good Luck with that line - The Tier 5 - 7 are average to say the least, although I quite liked the T6, I skipped the (in)famous Ch-Ri. The STA1 is nice - at least when elite.
The 140 line is much more fun all the way through and will give you more T 10 choices - you can get to the 140 and 430U from the T-44. I dont remember anything from the T-34-85 up being bad ( T-43 is average imo )

the russian 140 line is ok but kinda dull, the good all around jack of all trades tanks arent my cup of tea.
the jap line isnt perfect but that stb1 is worth it, and the tier 8-9 arent that bad, craparmor but good pen and depression
