So I should have just let the other player keep blocking me and trying to push me into enemy fire until either he got me killed or just got bored of it?

I saw two players behaving as badly as each other, one of whom definitely hasn't learnt any lessons from previous bans.
How can you tell the other player has been banned previously?

You have two choices, drive to somewhere else and see what happens or take you fingers off the keyboard and let them do what they are going to do. For the latter you get to raise a ticket with CS and only one of you gets a ban.

Congratulations, it seems like you really tried your best to ban yourself.
It's one thing to push him back enough so he can't push you out into enemy fire, but to hold him against a wall for nearly TWO minutes is PSYCHOTIC. Seek help.
You could've reported him and have him banned instead, but you know what, I'm glad it turned out the way it had.

Well, you see when you both act like that. Your team will toss reports on both of you as that's 2 fewer guns active as neither one of you will stop. So if you react like that to such situations all the time and get triggered instantly taking your gun out. Then the solution is rather obvious. You leave... He either trolls, got mad because you blocked or just wanted the spot. In two of those 3 situations, he will get bored once you leave.
Why do you leave? Because when you stay and react in kind, you stack reports too. The system doesn't care who started it or who was the main troll. Nor does it care about one situation at that time. He just cares about the one that has the most reports stacked up over multiple cases recently. That was you in this case. So yes... you always leave or ignore them. If you feed all the trolls you face, they might get banned too in due time if they keep it up. But so will you at some point IF others report you to every single time.
As it's a 3-day ban, it's not your first rodeo. So just leave next time, so the team doesn't report you. As not everyone sees who started it, just who keeps at it and that's who gets their report. Might be the troll, might be you. Or both.

You can't. You can only see if they are on a ban now via their clan page etc. So unless you monitor him daily, you won't know. But then you can base it on how long the ban is. As if it's a day or longer, it's not their first rodeo. Just as I suspect it was not yours.
