This could have been a good model for premium tanks. It's not very different from the regular Cromwell, just has a premium reward multiplier. Compared to all those OP premiums WG keeps bringing out, this was a breath of fresh air. I'd love to pay to give premium status to some of the tech tree T8s for farming. But noOoOoO, OP russian tanks it is.

I'd buy 'premium skin' for Charioteer, udes, Caernarvon, tiger, German superheavy VK, and similar tech tree tanks. That would be awesome :D

When I first started playing WoT, I would see players use Amx ELC, T-67, or Cromwell B's to single-handedly carry whole battles.

But not any more.

I keep the tech tree version too, the Cromwells are a fav of mine but the Premium one has slightly longer aim time (bloom on reticle) I believe. Great tank to me though.

I think that's more of an issue with your play style - the Cromwell in any incarnation has quite a high skill ceiling and won't last long once mistakes are made :)

It is a good idea to make any tank in game a premium. Lets say I want to make Indien-Panzer a premium. I can pay for example 10000 gold and boom just like that Indien-Panzer can now make more credits and serve as crew trainer. We already have examples where tech tree tanks are copy-pasted into premiums. Cromwell, IS , T-44, T-34-85 , Pershing, ...

Some of the premium variants have even better stats than fully upgraded tech tree twins.

Have it but always preferred the T-34-85M. Find it overall more reliable.

Bigger alpha, same rof, armor that can actually stop a few shots (sometimes enough to make a difference) and "only" trades a bit of mobility compared to the Crom.

Still, plenty of fun to had with the Crom + BIA crews are always nice ;)

Had it, found the gun to be more than trollish. It would hit literaly everything on the map except the tank i aimed at. Never got it to work. Pity because it's a gorgeous model.

I think this one was the first one of the duplicate-of-already-existing-tank trend that started like 4 years ago from where everything went into a downward spiral.

Is it better to have a duplicate of a balanced tank that's available to everyone as a premium tank than an OP premium tank that's different / flat out better than the counterpart? (Looking at T34-85M / Defender) Probably yes.
Is it good to have a duplicate of every worth-while tank to own in the game? Probably no.

The developers thought the same, that's why now we are stuck with "different variants" of what was supposed to be "the same tank", like:

Cromwell | Cromwell B
Caernarvon | Caernarvon AX
Centurion I | Centurion 5/1
T-34-85 | T-34-85M
AMX 50100 | Somua SM | Lorr. 40t
IS-3 | IS-3A | Defender
P44 Pantera | Progetto 46
Lynx | EBR

You see someone in WG had the idea of "Let's allow people to buy progress in WoT!"

It's cheaper to buy Cromwell B than it is to convert tank exp to free exp with gold and research the basic one.
But they cloned 1 tank (Cromwell). Then they cloned another one (IS). And then another one (ISU).
And the big bad boss who's priority back in the day wasn't 100% cash money bling noticed that: "Hey dude, even I as a boss see that you Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V the same tank, not cool my dude!"

And so came "variation" which led to most of the 'clones' actually being 'superiors' to the original ones.

Could they have made something like the X5 exp missions for each tank but with giving extra credits and  / or exp --- that way giving players the option to make any regular tank into a premium tank for some battles without the clones? Could they have made it a paid subscription type of deal like they did with battle-pass? They could have. But WoT is like a casino. A subscription you can cancel, but the coins you put in the machine for a Cromwell B / Defender / Progetto 46 you can not get back.

And people keep buying them.
Idk why we (as a community) don't see premium tank owners as essentially cheaters. Paying for an aim-bot is illegal but buying a flat out better version of a tank = all is cool?

---

Oh sorry.

I went a downward spiral there too thinking about the disaster the cloned tanks created for the game...

... maybe one day we will witness a WoT where the same tank is cloned across all nations individually.

WV's. Who don't have the trouble aiming at full speed like the Berlinwell does.

Cromwell B - the only one bad thing is gun handling, every single thing in this tank is gooood. You can use it as a light tank in some games. I can recommend this one :)
