The challenge is not designed for nomal people, Only for people who like to pay or somwhow dont get bored of many games per day.
For players with one or more tier X's...it should be easier for them, Ill take a look at how those missions are. All in all, this doesnt seem to be a terribly OP tank and if you miss it, no sweat.

For us its a game for them its a business. I don't really begrudge them it, it's a free game and they do have to come up with ways of parting players with their money every once in a while.
But this is missing the mark. Make the grind a little less, and they get more money as more people reach stage 9 or so. Greed eventually only costs the mony. But maybe there is very heavy pressure on them to keep daily player numbers up.

They've been doing these marathons for years, they wouldn't put up the requirements each time if it made less money trust me.

You have a chance to get this tank for NOTHING if you try hard enough. These tier VIII marathons have never interested me. The fact that I could work a single shift of overtime and buy four tier VIII Premiums means that is a lot less stressful than grinding for hours on end.
The new format, allowing you to get massive discount, is actually a very clever marketing trick. Actually, it's probably a very simple one. You invest your time in getting as much discount as possible before ending the frustration by buying it at a discount.
If ten players fail to complete a conventional marathon (where you MUST meet all the objectives to get the tank) and one buys that tank at, say £40, while the others don't bother, WG get £40.
If ten players play and one gets the tank at 90% discount (£4), two get it at 80% discount (£8) three get it at 70% discount (£12) then WG are already in the money even before any one of the other four buys it at 50% or less discount.
The ONLY time I have done this, I paid £2 for the T25 Pilot. £1 was for the garage slot and I still feel ripped off. I don't bother with these events other than getting what I can with conventional play.

Well depends on a persons definition of easy. Going the tier 9 -10 mastery way, it still takes a lot of time. Esp the later stages.
And even with 853 avg XP per battle, still takes hundreds of games.
I'm not saying , it can't be done. It can, but lots of time needed to do it. Probably best for good players, is to skip the first 3-4 stages via the mastery route, and then grind out the rest of XP in tier 6-7-8-9.
I'm at stage 8, but i don't see myself grinding out the rest of the xp, although i could, just can't be bothered investing so much free time especially after a while it feels like a chore, and i get super bored.
And honestly i don't need the tank so probably won't buy it even with a 80% discount.

The clue is in the title. Polar Challenge. The emphasis on Challenge. If you manage it complete it, you get the tank for free
From reports of people who have it and from shooting it in game. It doesn't seem to be a must have.
I regretted not purchasing the Progetto after getting up to about 80% discount on the original challange. I regret that one. Bought it later.
The Bourrasque challenge I did worse and didn't buy, I seem to remember it being a much more grindy event though. Another regret.
This is a bit like tank rewards, just play your game as normal and if you get up to a good enough discount, then maybe buy it.
Playing to get it for free will drive you mad.
Personally, I think it should be titled the Patience Challenge.

I think you misunderstand how the marathons work and their point.
The fact is they are not designed for average, or even above average players to complete. Even for the top players it is a massive slog.
The point is to make you want the tank and buy it at a discount.

I did the TS-5 to 9, couldn't manage the 10th area, but I really tried for it.
That was one of the worst, uncomfortable, tiering and probably unhealthiest weeks I've had in front of a PC. I love the TS-5, its a great tank, but not worth the agro really, at least to try and get it free that is. A few hours a night yeah why not, its do-able, but 7-9 hrs a day, running into the early hours, then working and then doing it all again.
F
That.
As someone already said, if you really want it, play the game as you normally would, or maybe a tad more, and then buy it with the discount. Don't risk your health/job/marriage but doing it.

I got no life, apparently. I got, however, only 14336 points left to get to 90%.
With another couple of hours tonight (of fun gameplay I should add, I like playing tonkz atm!) and a couple of hours tomorrow, it should be quite doable to get it for just 10%.
