Just won 3 times by capping base. Also lost 1 by base capped. Some players whining about it on our team.

we average players capping base by 1 sec close while some unicum just try to farm damage on the other side of the map..

is damage really more important than your base? Heh purple player?????

An average player will play for the team and sacrifice his tank for his team. A damage focused player never will.

I recently won a game after the enemies stopped caping at 99/100, probably due to whiners looking for more farm ... that was highly satisfying.

  • Is sitting in white circles more fun that shooting pixel tanks in a pixel shooting game?

  • A player that loses more than another player is playing less for the team.

  • Bad players - seemingly also finding shooting pixel tanks more fun than sitting in white circles - ask "stop cap" all the same, including in situations where the "try-hard" would generally cap to win (though, if one point I agree on partially, it's that with MoE grinding there are players that would prefer a loss with more damage over a win).

Winning by killing all enemies gives a bit more exp, due to an exp bonus based on the percentage of enemy HP removed.

That said, a win always gives more exp and credit than a loss, so winning by cap is still better than losing.

Capping, as everything in this game, should be done at the right time.

Seeing 'stopping capping [edited]' or such like in the chat just makes me more obtuse.

When nearly everbody and their Grandmothers come on here and [edited]about W/R would would I leave the cap on a guaranteed win to potentially lose?

Securing an easy win is certainly more fun than getting an embarrassing loss by taking unnecessary risks. Players will actively avoid the cap because the rewards for capping aren't in proportion with the rewards you get for damage. If you manage to secure a cap with half of the enemy team still alive, you will get significantly less than if you were to allow your team to do more damage. This is odd because you'd expect the game to incentivize reaching any winning condition as soon as possible.

So when someone says "Stop cap, I need this kill for mission", you'll stop the cap then?

Why cap in a sure-win 12-3 situation unless it's for a mission?

It's kinda funny when you see afterwards that it was a sulky unicum capping base, who just happened to have had a bad game. A recent classic, when we were winning 14-3 and someone politely asked him to stop capping was "stfu bot".

huh, are you one of those capping when the game stands 12 - 3 and your own base is defended by 2 TDs ?

it not infuriating, but annoying when people cap and deny more exp and credits to themselves.

sometimes i just not get why they do it.

HT-7.3 - Cause 3k damage, participate in the successful capture of an enemy base or reset the cap of your base and win the battle. I had to use an order for that mission because it was impossible to cap out with people chasing down damage. :(

I've seen both examples tbh, players who won't cap despite all being 1 shots in a closely contested game and players who insist on capping when your team is 10 tanks up with only an enemy afk and arty left. Both are annoying.

The latter is more common however. Its strange how often a player will say they are capping for a "mission" but when you ask them to press N and tell you what mission it is, they can't.

On balance I'd still prefer a player cap early for a win than not cap and get a loss.

caps are very exposed to defenders fire and so to my mind capping is harder to do than kill all wins, which I guess WG made capping a campaign mission

that is the popular view, but the reality is most need the easy damage because they were hiding behind some rock until they were on the winning side. I play SPG a lot and so pay attention to the minimap more than other classes.

Damage does give more experience, even if it is not done by yourself.

Each player gets XP awarded for damage done to the enemy team. Capping is therefore overrated. I will only do this in otherwise unwinnable situations.

PS: Purple players have higher winrates than average players. Don't fool yourself. You are not doing more for the team, than they are. You are doing less.

But that is not a bad thing. If you do everything you can, feel good about it and enjoy the game (FUN), you are doing everything right.

Tbh, I've lost as many times as I've won because they did not cap and drove right past it to hunt for the last enemies that had full HP vs a group of 1 shots, or they were trying to hunt the last group that was more or less last seen on our cap that 5 seconds later starts a +3. Just as I've had losses because they capped vs flanking the last group, and the enemy group did split up to go back and reset and just farmed the cappers so the rest dies vs more guns once they group up again.

There is a time to farm damage and a time to farm cap points.

If you're only considering a scenario where it's 12-3, then obviously that is going to fit your argument very well. If you actually consider other likely scenarios like 1-3 or 4-3, do you think argument still holds?

Similarly, if you would presume that both players are equally skilled for the sake of argument, do you think your argument still holds? If I would presume the player on my side of the argument is always better, wouldn't that make me sound a little biased?
