where do you see any mention of random battles/ non random battles?

I believe your "service record" shows your stats for whatever game mode you currently have selected (drop down menu next to the "battle" button). The popup on the other hand is just for your whole playing history across all game modes.

In your garage, go to Service Record, then go to Statistics; there you can select other battle modes like grand battles, skirmishes, ranked, etc.
