Last time I made a thread wondering what would happen to crews consisting of only females. I have tried the new system on the sandbox server and here is what I found:

First you manually convert your female crew

Spoiler

Upon conversion, none of the 4 girls are actually 'changed' into a commander for your crew. Instead you are given a free female commander which is pretty cool.

Spoiler

The 4 girls turn into instructors, you are allowed to individually reassign them to a new nation aswell as change their certification

Spoiler

You can swap out instructors for gold.. or wait 7 days! Instead of just letting us swap instructors for credits. Wargaming is implementing a paywall mechanic which is usually reserved for toxic mobile games

Spoiler

All in all good news for female crews though.

I edited the spoilers to actually show the images rather than just Imgur links for convenience.

The important question: How much XP did your crew have before the conversion?

I...

I'm even more confused than before.

Instructors? Excuse me?

What about the actual crew? Is it multiple members or a single entity?

...sounds like way too big of a change, again - for something nobody asked for. IIRC the perks and skills just needed an update. This is like a complete U-turn taking a different line altogether. Why???

Also, what about the compensation to people that used gold to accelerate current crews

Yay! I like my commander's "Up and at 'em" far more than I ought to!

In the very first image you're able to see 2x 100% skill + 1x 90% skill on each crew member

In the new system this converts to 28 points for the new commander, which is 2x 10/10 skill + 1x 8/10 skill

In crew 1.0 your skills were spread out over 4 crew members, in crew 2.0 a single person has to train the newly available 25 skills.

And what if it's a mix of women and men?

I'm assuming the actual gender of the commander decides the gender of the new commander.

Too many moving parts... I'll just see what some number cruncher streamer does and do the same.

If you've used gold to accelerate your crew then all the additional XP you paid for gets combined into the single Commander XP so you haven't lost anything, it's still all there

You can change the commander's gender seemingly freely through Personal Customisation now. It allows you to change their portrait (to male, female, or special such as Arengee Penetrael, George Patton etc) as well as name (if applicable; if you assign a Patton customisation you won't get to rename the commander).

Assigning a new tank works the exact same as retraining the existing one; which is very similar to Live:

  • You can spend 750 gold to be trained at 100%, with no XP loss (Live: 200 gold per crewman).
  • You can spend 500.000 credits to be trained at 90%, with 10% XP loss (Live: 20.000 credits per crewman).
  • You can spend nothing to be trained at 70% (Live: depends on retraining, but assuming the same type it's a 20% penalty instead).

Credit retraining is certainly a nerf, as it raises costs significantly, but gold retraining is certainly cheaper than it used to be. Free retraining sucks, just like on live. Keep in mind that retraining for credits or for free will cost you XP, and thus reset your crew skills. This also applies when moving up tiers, eg. from the Panther at VII to the Panther II at VIII!

By the looks of it, if this is implemented there will be an initial impact in crew proficiency (if going for the 10% XP loss) or your gold savings (if using that) but on the long term there shouldn't be a dramatic difference from live. While credit retraining is now 5x more expensive (or more) you can now have three different vehicle proficiencies trained simultaneously, while also getting significant bonus experience with that crew thanks to Instructors (who give 10% to 20% bonus XP each). The XP loss should be more than negated with Instructors, even if the player lacks Premium Tanks to retrain with. For "small fry" crews with minimal perks and skills on Live, the impact is negligible to begin with; the only "big losers" in terms of XP will be highly trained crews with 4 or more skills.

You should have received them as skins, instructors, and convertible crewmen to turn into a Commander.

And here is another nice little trick.
Say you have a 6 man crew in your Tortoise with 5 skills.
Just before Crew 2.0 goes live. Buy 2 low tier tanks in the same line. For example the Valentine that have 3 crew members, and fill crew into it. ( 2 x 3 ) crew members.

When you convert the day after BUM, you have 2 crews with 5 skill exp, instead of 1.

Developer on twitch talking about us having fewer but very highly skilled crew setups for different types of playstyles.
