tetrarch(also other common t2 except the the pz38... that is too high on the matchmaking), you can usually get the top gun achievement and almost no repair cost
you rarely will fight t3, and even fighting them you have chances to win.
light tanks cant be on top in higher tiers, so if you choose amx you will fight t6-7 mostly.

However, on an excellent win where you received a top gun achievement with a tier 2, you will still make less money than on an awful battle with a tier 5 tank where you died without damaging anything so there is no point at playing tier 2 tanks to make credits.

I would say tier 5 (PzKpfw IV, StuG III etc) if it wasn't for the bad MM. I'd go with tier 6 (KV-3, SU-100, VK3601(H) etc) since you generally get better MM there. Worst is tier 3-5.
If you want to invest and take a bit of a risk then I can recommend Panther II. Can fill lots of roles, has a great gun with cheap ammo, decent front armor and okay HP for when you need to get dirty. I've been getting a nice income from this tank.
But if you don't want to worry as much about surviving every battle in order to profit then you should probably go for tier 5 or 6.

I currently have a StuG III, which is a good moneymaker, and I´m thinking on going down the TD line, till the JagdPanther at least. But I need credits...it's a good idea to buy a KV to farm credits along with the Stug, or it's just a waste of resources? What you guys think?
EVERYONE should have a KV/KV3 in their garage:-
a)for the credit farming
b)for whenever the USSR line gets changed about and you get your free tanks for having the KV/KV3 in your garage.

Actually I find that the KV-3 has a much worse MM than the KV!
They can both be put against some tanks 4 tiers above them but:
The KV can potentially use the 152 mm that can be really efficient against high tier tanks.
The guns of the KV-3 with the best penetration have only 8 more millimeters of penetration than the 107mm, it is much less than the difference of armor thickness between a high tier tank and the tank one tier above him (which mean than a KV-3 will meet many more tanks it cannot penetrate). Even worse, most of the players consider that the 107mm is still the best gun to use on the KV-3 (the 100mm has worse alpha strike and DPM and the 122mm has worse DPM and accuracy).
The KV-3 is even more sluggish than the KV which mean that it has even less chances of flanking the tanks it cannot damage frontally.
From my personal experience, I have much more battles where I was fighting only higher tier tanks in my KV-3 than in my KV. I remember having played a few battles where I was the only tank tier 6 of the game (with only 1 or 2 tanks tier 7 in the other team) in my KV-3 (and I don’t remember having been put in a similar situations with my KV).

If you play the PzKpfw IV exclusively as a sniper in high tier battles, you can get a good score. But seeing as the StuG III hasn't got any gun advantage and much less survivability, being a TD. I don't tend to recommend it for money making. It won't lose you money, but it requires very specific maps and enemy behaviour to be effective.
Other TDs can handle enemy aggression (Jagdpanther, Ferdinand etc), the StuG III can't. It has too low alpha damage to kill rushing enemies fast enough and when spotted has zero survivability.

Grille is maybe not the best, but I use it for farming money. This didn't change my game stile and feeling for the primary using tank. Bad idea is to change several tanks between the battles!
Example of earnings and expenses per battle with Grille:
(no premium account)
- Credits reseived: 15 000 (around)
- Spend for ammo: 5 000
- In most than 60% of the battles he survived - rarely need repaired costs
- Realy rarely need to buy used consumables
- 4-5 kills per mission not sounds bad
