I'm wondering, are there players out there that have chosen to limit themselves to one or two classes they feel most comfortable in?  And i mean real focus, so hardly any tank of the other classes left in your garage. And if so, how did that work out for you? I know there are dedicated arty players but wat about the other classes?

I'm asking this because i noticed that i enjoy TD and LT gameplay much more than HT or MT. I think i could easily choose TD's as main focal point with LT as support (for variety) and still have lots of fun. Right now i have millions of credits and some solid crews invested in tanks i hardly ever play and when i do play them i struggle big time in them. So after 30k battles i'm really wondering why i still press battle in e.g. my Panther or Tiger when i can have way more fun and succes in a TD.

Also i've noticed that it's very hard for me to get better in the game while playing this wide variety of tanks in different classes. I mean, i really love my AMX 13-75 but haven't played that more than 1 battle here and there for quite some time. I know i could do way beter when all those other tanks in my garage weren't trying to get my attention too.

Any thoughts on this?

Specialization on certain vehicle classes is one thing.

My specialization is also LT and TD and I act similar what you describe on either vehicle class.

The other thing is to know your opponents abilities and procedures during a match.

This might be done by paying attention to the mini-map, but this gives only a rough picture of what other vehicle classes do.

So the specialist not knowing the other classes will be at an disadvantage. Playing other classes will mitigate the disadvantage, i.e.

  • playing SPG helps me to find better rocks for cover, when playing HT
  • playing LT helps me to optimize my path to imported locations, cos I can avoid being spotted early, since I know the abilities and positions for LTing.

I consider myself a complete HT noob due to missing experience, which means my map knowledge of brawling areas is on a minimap level and sometime I get sniped at from completely unexpected directions in these brawling areas.

i prefer TD and Light, i like to sneak around and snipe and feel those two classes are excellent for that.

only thing why i favor TD's is the alpha

I specialised in HE tanks

75% of my garage is now sold

sooo... a bit of variation is recommended for when they radically change the meta

I have a few classes I like t oplay - whether I am successful or not in them - its regardless.

The bigger problem I have is that - to get rewards, extra credits/crews/vehicles - through the campaigns etc is that you need to be able t oplay and have T6 + all classes and play SEVERAL times to get mission advances.

What is worse is that Campagin 2 is you need to play basically most countries too. until recently I've not had any Bloc countires (Germany and Japan from memory?) I've started Germany know - but I dont really like the fact its forcing me to play extra tank classes and and nations I dont particulalry want to - to move on and get more rewards....

Hadn't thought about that but that would be mitigated by keeping my premium/reward tanks of the other classes.

Apart from my TOG (which requires a whole different mindset) I only have mediums. Worse than that, except for my Girls Und Panzer Ankou, they are all British Mediums. :playing:

But I'm happy with my niche.

No I don't at all (partly because one of my missions is to elite and evaluate every tech tree tank in the game). I probably should though - my arty and light gameplay has generally been poor, where as I'm generally pretty good in Heavies. Unfortunately heavy gameplay isn't  where the most fun is though...

I have decided to concentrate on paper meds because I like the versatility of such vehicles. Naturally, this means that I sometimes I play LTs, as the border between a paper med like for example Borat and an LT isn't that clear, and sneaky and mobile TDs for similar reasons. So basically I mostly play tanks that relly on bush/stealth mechanics and I run away from anything that is based on armor, mostly because of the goldspam and the clickers, which for me ruin the gameplay with heavily armored vehicles. As for the results of this decision, I think I have generally improved. In the past (I guess like many others) I used to play with the cool historical tanks (Panzer IV, Stug, Tigers, Jagdtiger, especially the Italian Panther) and my stats in them were very bad. But since I focused on more meta meds I am doing a lot better in terms of credit income/free xp/stats. Not having to play heavies and clickers for missions anymore also helps a great deal. :teethhappy:

I have 49295 battles. 20416 are in TDs. 9905 are in MTs. 7796 are in LTs, 7249 are in HTs and 3956 are in SPGs.

That's 41% in TDs.

I am, through and through a TD player. Of 163 vehicles in my garage at the moment, 50, or almost a third, are from this one class. 30.6%. I have four SPGs, 19 HTs, 53 mediums and 37 lights.

I am going to make a small change to the filter now and include only tier IV and above. I choose this option as only this tier and upwards are eligible for missions and get the most play time.

138 vehicles. 49 TDs. 3 SPGs, 19 HTs, 51 meds, but only 16 LTs. This reflects the number of tier II and III gift Premiums I have, mostly lights. I am surprised to see that I have more meds, but they don't get as much play.

Many of my TDs are superb snipers, but I am not a bush-camping noob. I am always prepared to move up and my excellent concealment and maximised spotting helps me to remain unseen, spot for myself and for my allies as well. Unfortunately, an excellent battle in the SU-100 which shows how much spotting I can do has been removed from Replays during their recent clearout. :( But, I do have Spotter ribbons on many of my TDs, up to level 3 on several, including two tier VI.

I only play SPGs with mission objectives in mind and get no pleasure from them (or very, very little) I can't brawl in HTs and although I can scout effectively, as a LT you are very team-dependant for the wins. I would scout for SPGs but as their popularity and ability has waned, it's a waste of time. Meds are my most-owned and second-most played because of their versatility and that also shows with many having good win rates from a combination of damage/kills and spotting/assist. Their speed allows relocation, their guns are powerful enough to be useful and their armour and HP pool is respectable enough to survive longer.

I don't see any point in playing vehicles or tiers that I really don't get on with. You, as an ally, would far rather have me on your team in a TD rather than a heavy. That is a given. I suppose I could improve in heavies if I played them more, but I enjoy what I do and (again) apart from specific missions and Campaigns, I don't play heavies much at all.

I play all classes, but am not a fan of the very slow vehicles. Playing a wide variety of classes and vehicles made me more aware of strengths and weaknesses of many vehicles and more knowledgeable of game mechanics in general.

What does TD gameplay mean btw?

Edit: also, why would I limit myself playing only one class ("specializing" ) when there are ao many different fun to play vehicles in the game?

Best performing tanks compared to what? Compared to all other tanks like dmg/spoting dealt or compared to same tanks via Marks of exellence?

My thinking is, that is always best to compare the same stuff. So if I compare my t5 Cavalier  vs t5 Pz5/4 of course I perform better in Pz5/4 because its a much better OP  tank. But comparing MOEs I can only achieve some 55% in Pz5/4 while having >95% 3MOE  in Cavalier. So looking absolute figures I perform better in Pz 5/4 while relatively I perform even much more better in my old friend Cavalier. My pick in this duel is Cavalier  because at 95% It feels like beeing  RAMBO on the scene :) while in Pz 5/4 feels like beeing and avg Joe  :(

Also performing in tanks and enjoy playing them isnt the same thing. I enjoy playing playing t8 autoloaders HT like Italian HT or IS3A  or Somua because I can always deal some >1000 dmg while my overall MOE is very low at around 55%....

For years I played mainly HT, then switched to arty in order to understand how to manage their shots as a HT.

I ended having more fun in arty than in heavies ...

Tbh now I like all classes, but play mainly MT as it is more dynamic. The less played are LT as is too difficult at high tiers with high team expectations. And I don't play red line Tds, I bring them to the front.

Wouldn't make much sense as classes don't really mean much. You can focus on certain playstyles (e.g. scouting, sniping, brawling, ...) and then concentrate on tanks suited for that playstyle, but those tanks can potentially be found in any class (outside arty). For example someone that likes scout gameplay might still be interested in certain TDs and Meds (Heavies are unlikely though) with high mobility and/or camo.

MoE are player performance based, this just means that nobody with that much effort plays the cavalier.

And diddo on playing well and having fun, I have fun in some tanks that are just silly, but perform mediocre.

Somewhere while we play we forget why we play.

Make sure you wont leave the base, beeing useless the whole match until your team has melted and finally move when its all lost.

You forgot to add taking loads of abuse from other players.
