WOT Tank Viewer - Version 0.4.1 - 1.0 Beta

19 Jan 2012
Hey everyone,
The latest release is version 0.4.1, released on 20/12/2012 (AEDT)
I recommend users of the installer package to uninstall the previous version when updating as there are a few changes to some material files.I have started a public beta test for 1.0, check here for details http://www.rextimmy.com/?page_id=123
Latest version 0.4.1:
Previous version 0.3.7: Please read the problems.txt (the setup should create a shortcut to it in the start menu) as the program is far from perfect.
If you find this app useful or just wish to help out than please
There are a few problems with the new UV Map export feature, so please see above problems.txt
Possible uses of the program:
* Help in creating mod folders.
* Aid in skinning tanks.
* Look at tanks you may not have in your garage yet.
* Look offline at hitbox skins (you will have to download the actual hitbox textures though).
I always welcome suggestions/feature requests, you can contact me on these forums or email me rextimmy AT aim.com
I also want to thank the all tester's and in particular Amade who really went out of his way with testing.
Version 0.4.1
* Fixed path error when creating tank directories.
* Fixed application crashing when changing the WoT path multiple times during runtime.
* Fixed red material problem with crashed wespe model.
* Changed preferences dialog to show last selected folder instead of defaulting to the binary directory of the application.
* Added radio button's to allow toggling of perspective/orthographic projection.
* Fixed problem with various tanks turret camo showing incorrectly.
* Fixed crash when saving viewport settings.
* Added screenshot saving to disk feature.
Version 0.4.0
* Updated Qt to version 4.8.4.
* Merged dynamic database system from development version 1.0.
* Merged mo file reading from version 1.0.
* Moved shader and materials to a seperate sub directory.
Version 0.3.7
* Fixed issue for Intel cards with hangar_basic.shader.
* Fixed camo system for WoT 8.0.
* Added new tanks from WoT 8.0 (thanks iamaspotter).
Version 0.3.6
* Fixed issue with loading regular xml formated tank configuration files.
* Removed shadow mapping (will be enabled in version 1.0 ).
Version 0.3.5
* Added support for british tanks.
* Added various new tanks from WoT 0.7.5.
* Changed camo enable to radio button instead of push button.
* Added support for loading the normals/binormals/tangents from the primitive files and not genereated by the application (much smoother lighting now).
* Changed default text codec to UTF-8 (fixes a bug in settings.cfg not allowing UTF-8 characters).
* Fixed problem with Intel graphics card's crashing when using opengl automatic mip mapping. (Nice one Intel, quality opengl implementation lol).
* Fixed rendering of the basic hangar to support previous versions.
* Added shadow support to the bump mapped lighting.
Version 0.3.4
* Corrected basic lighting problem.
* Fixed numerous bugs in material system not selecting correct material for the render pass (related to problem above).
* Fixed settings so application does not require restart when changing the WoT Path.
* Changed USA Heavy T34 to tier 8.
* Corrected USA TD T25/2 name (was T25-2).
* Fixed bug in tracks_basic.shader where texture coordinates where not written to the fragment shader.
* Removed rendering of certain primitive groups in the basic hangar as wargaming reworked this mesh file for 0.7.2 and "enclosed it", causing the viewer to look horrible when zoomed out. The downside to this is the basic hangar will not render correctly with older WoT install such as 0.7.1.1
* Configured solid/wireframe buttons to stay depressed when selected.
* Configured hide tab button to stay depressed when selected.
* Added image loading library DevIL for future export features.
* Changed compiler to microsoft visual studio 2010.
* Updated Qt to version 4.8.2.
* Added support for loading regular xml formatted visual files.
* Fixed bug in primitive loader where it would crash loading custom tank files.
* Added camouflage support.
* Added various tanks from 0.7.3 and 0.7.4.
Help Section

NOD32 didnt detected a virus and i checked every single file
suggestion:
- Add garage as background (premium or custom)
- Add all DDS files into program database so we dont need to place path to WoT folder + it will make program somewhat bigger
- Add Screenshot folder in program instal directory
- Make it work with Windows 7 by default ( i had to set compatibility for win XP service pack 3 or it didnt worked)
- Change program icon please
- Send me PM every time when you make new version

- The DDS files i won't add to the database simply because there is no guarantee between wot versions the file names will be the same.
- The setting the path should only ever have to be done once unless of course you have multiple installations of wot (some skinner's do) and it's handy for them to just click a few buttons and totally change where the tank & textures are loaded from. In fact you can actually load textures from a secondary location. *Edit - it is not required to set the texture path at all, see the manual about this.
- What version of Windows 7 do you have? ...This is the first recorded problem of this, my two development machines are windows 7 and this doesn't happen (don't take this as me disregarding the problem ;-) )
- The format for the garage is in fact the same format they use to load the game level's, which is completely different from the mesh format's. I have not even begun to work these out yet (not sure really at this stage if i ever will).
Cheers,
Tim

I have planed to make something like this but since you allready pulled it off maybe i could use this project to add garage view (not 100% sure when if you dont mind)
Any way thanks for sharing this it made my morning and have fun in world of tanks.
Since this is only 0.2.3 version of the application i belive you will continue to work on this

Hmm the windows 7 problem is odd, i have the exact same version. I'll look into it none the less.
Yes there will be plenty more releases to come yet, there are so many more features i just haven't had time to add yet. Generally at this early stage i do a release approximately 1 per week. Sometimes more if i discover any huge problem or get excited and add a few new features very quickly.

The viewer is capable of loading all those mesh files as I tested my loading code against them too. I'll definitely give it some thought once I get the current features to where i want them.

I am sorry if this has been riased before in other threads but It would be nice to view the default decals as an option as that would make it much easier to optimize skins for those who use them.
but in any-case thank-you for this tool, I have been putting it to good use

It is a really nice application. Keep up updating it
It would be cool to be able to save several views to be able to always take screenshots from the same angles and zoom levels.
