It should be legit as the spotting is calculated serverside. You can have tree or bush removed but that wont improve on the enemys visibility if server thinks he's outside your view.

well im not sure they will ever know if its locally effective. i wouldnt use it seems a bit cheaty to me but tbh the redoutline makes it easy enough to see the target behind foiliage. still this looks easier to pick out weakspots than the outline.
maybee its why i keep getting torn apart when moving through woods  <_<

... I don't think that's a big advantage - so for my part: go for it if you must!

But quite like the (cursed) hit skins: this makes your graphics really ugly.

If it gives me a frame rate increase, with no advantage in game, I like it, thanks. Can't see it giving a bigger advantage

in aiming than hitboxes, so shouldn't be a problem using it.

also you can remove the high grass on the ground with an already build in option. I did so, because the high grass always gave me the feeling of a wrong security from being spotted there when it is not. also it only leaves the bushes in that really provide visual cover.

I can't see how removing the trees would be any more different than that. It is just visual, and doesn't help you spotting a bit.

The trees don't give any camouflage bonus anyway...

Lets say you are camping and targeting a position usually favored by the enemy. Now if the your view is obstructed by the trees you cant really see there the building or rock ends exactly. with this mod, you can easily tell where the structure ends, thus successfully pre-aiming. Definitely a tactical advantage.

It is clearly an advantage for shooting at moving targets because you can see if there are obstacles in the area.

IMHO one of the mods that give you the biggest advantage.

Excatly my thoughts. It was annoying to shoot moving targets when you are in a bush that is limiting your view. This mod solves it, hence giving a bit of unfair adventage.

Anyway my initial post was moderated, with info that mod isnt legit. So it's more clear now.

Pretty sure this is considered legal on the russian server, either that or WG just don't give a damn about punishing people for using this. I've seen quite a few top russian players using this mod while streaming, with a decent amount of viewers.

And honestly, the trees/bushes in this game need sorting out. I've noticed my usual 20fps going down to 4-8 fps when attempting to snipe through a bush, I'm not the only one either. That to me is a huge disadvantage.

Ok, sorry to ask... why is this mod illegal when hit box skins are allowed?
What makes this mod especially bad in comparison, when some people need it to get this game running at a decent level while hitbox skins are not needed?

if a tank is obscured by foliage but you can see its red ouline, you cant tell if its half hiding behind a rock or dead tank, with this mod you can.

However, if it improves framerate I might consider using it, mine is very slow sometimes in sniper view, I have been killed a few times because an explosion has gone off close to me and my PC has slowed so much i could ne get thyat last crucial shot on an enemy tank, or even get back out of sniper view int imke to start moving the tank.

So skins that show weakspots are legal (and they provide obvious advantage to the user)

And mod that removes leaves and branches (provides minimal ingame advantage, solves FPS problems becouse lowest FPS happens in forested areas) is illegal?

OK, let's see:

1. use hitbox skins (step 1 to make your game look like a clown )
2. remove tree branches, remove smoke, remove grass, remove clouds.

After that Mario 2 will look like Crisys 2 compared to what is left of WoT graphics. Are you so much desperate to win, instead of enjoying a game with good visual quality and effects? ( I'm not talking about ppl with Pentium 4 : ) )

Check out Quake Live. Normal players just leave the game as is. People who are serious about getting as much out of the game as possible have the field of vision set to ridiculous values of like 150, the textures of everything are just squares and player skins are brightly lit. They also know exactly where which item spawns at what intervals and where the player usually comes out of when moving etc. This is all OK because to actually win, you need very good timing, aim and map control.

Here, people are trying the same. As long as it is not interfering with the game server, people will do their best to disable all graphics in order to avoid any problems. You may like to have pretty grass, I disable it because it obscures the view. There are a lot of things people disable not because they have crap FPS, but because it can cause FPS drops in the least wanted moment, or because it prevents them from seeing the enemy.
