I just wanted to share my pure joy of letting my AMX 40 go and purchasing AMX 12t - however it performs it cannot be any worse. My very last though about 40 was "Well, at least I get money to train 12t crew to 75%, for selling this shit". Now I am free and I can enjoy my life again, which I am wishing to all of you AMX 40 grinders out there  :Smile_honoring: Our pain and sweat and blood will never be forgotten. Christ, I'm feeling like I've taken Monte Cassino right now.

yeah, take every bad attribute and you have a french heavy tank (the low tier ones). Slow, paper tanked and dealing next to zero damage.
The BDR with the 90mm cannon gets better but nothing compares to the KV.

Oh, that I know, my bro is grinding them atm. They cause him to say lots of mean and violent words ;)

Heh, just when you thought it couldn't get any worse eh? Have the B1 and the AMX-38 at the moment, and looking at the tanks I'm grinding towards, I'm beginning to wonder if there is any point in continuing.

AMX 12t seems to be worth it itself, not to mention high tier harassers found in AMX 13's. But I advice to accumulate lots of free xp (I have used 6k just to leave AMX 40 behind me) before buying AMX 40. And it's like you said - after buying this soapbox I started to look back to AMX 38 with sentiment :D As for heavies line, nothing until ARL 44 looks reasonable to me, by looking at stats.

Amx12 is suffering bad matchmaking, youll be much better using amx 13 90.

But yeah still better than the amx40 for sure  XD

Did 7 games with the amx40 then i skiped it for my mental sanity.

Amx 12t is cool, if you play it as a ambush spotter, then 13 75 is great! Got my xp record with it.

Anyway, low tiers often sucks, but french ones Oversucks^^

If playing one day heavies i plan skipping T4 and T5.

Is it only me who truly enjoys the low tier French tanks? The rubber duck is tons of fun for me. It's almost impenetrable by tier 1-5 except for KV of course. It's 75 mm gun is really decent and gets the job done well. It's a slow but steady tank. Also, I like the B1 too. Currently I own 2 heavy tanks: The B1 and the KV. If I want a fun game, I pick the B1 hands down. A big portion of my games with B1 were the best matches I've played in this game in terms of fun and odds. KV is very boring compared to B1 to my liking.
These two French tanks I enjoy the most so far in the whole game, I'll also keep them and make them elite.  :Smile-hiding:

amx 12 is mediocre at best. the tank is good but mm screws it an/or it needs 10mm extra pen tbh :)

but still, miles better than that piece of amx40...

Against it's own tier and below it puts in more than a good show but once you start facing tier V it's armour can't save it and due to it's speed it's just a bit buggered. It really is one of the tanks that you know just be looking at the line-up with you're going to enjoy the battle.

I've played worse tanks, the A-20 stands out particularly, but my main complaint about it is that I like to play lights so there's me thinking I'll try to French 'lights'. It took a little bit before it dawned on me that the first tank even close to a light is at tier V and the other tanks are far more suited to a heavy role. I still have a KV-3 and KV in the garage but only because I'm waiting for the free garage slots/tanks but I don't enjoy playing them much and that's what the French light line feels like to me.

Anyway got rid of mine this morning after a grand total of 28 battles and I did manage to get one top gun but more impressively invader - if I'm honest it was on Cliff and I got to a point where I just pressed the R key and started across the middle of the map. Somehow I managed to trundle into the base and there we are!

It is truly painful to grind the French ligths!
But since I spent x-mas playing the test server I know the reward is worth it... (12t, 13/75, 13/90...)

Free exp ftw ;)  Didn't touch amx 40 at all. I went straight to amx 13 75 -> amx 13 90.

ot: Whining about getting in "unfair" battles with light tanks is rubbish. Stop playing light tanks if you don't want to go high battles.

I like that tank. It really is a heavy . Bounce machine from the front, can go almost as fast backward than forward (accelerates faster backward than forward ... ) . The 75mm is good. It is also very small, so it is harder to hit and easier to hide.

I added a spall liner too. That thing can take a pretty good beating and be quite decent. It has trouble dealing big damages, but you cant really hit it from the front.

See for yourself :

29 hits received, and 22% HP left. Most HP removed was from the arty before i killed it, and believe me, killing an arty on this map with a tank that can barely hit 18km/h means it has time to shoot at you quite a lot.

Just cough up 10€ and skip tier 1-5 for French, like the devs intended.

Not worth grinding hours and hours through 10 failtanks, one worse than the next.

AMX 12t is worse. You get matched with t5-9 and the gun can´t be elevated much at all.

Even an AMX 12t without a turret is better than the AMX 40  <_<

AMX 40 is like driving a block of concrete: it will bounce anything, but doesn't have a gun and won't actually drive.
