Skipped with free XP. The AMX 12t may be a pain at times, but at least it has speed, mobility, and a fairly decent gun. The AMX 40 appears to have none of these things.

Beware though, the AMX 12t can be just as frustrating as the AMX 40, and sees much higher battles more often. Still a fun tank, but don't expect miracles.

Well, the duckling has gone here as well. Played a tough evening skipping it with free XP. Too bad I didn't understand (or use it wisely) the free XP system when I started playing WoT.
So, buying low tier elites, playing for the double XP, and selling them again, I managed to skip the AMX :) LOL, I even had fun again in a Loltraktor and M2  :D And now I hope the 12T is worth the nightmare. I have to admit I did have quite some fun games with the AMX40, TD-ing (for whatever you can call it that) with a camonet installed. But hey, no "Ode to the Bouncer"  ;)

Can't wait to get rid of "le morceau de merde". Has put my blood pressure through the roof with the rages this tank has induced.

this tank is made only to force players to spend gold on free XP.

and no wonder it's like that in an game "update".
how many people would have played such a crap at game launch? not many.
even the T28 seems like a ferocious beast compared with amx40.

I quite like the T28; a great sweeper that has saved the match on many an occasion, just don't get hit!

As for the AMX-40: Kill me, kill me now and put me out of its misery :(.

Edit: I might get to like this one, who'd have thought...

Victory!
Battle: Fisherman's Bay 19 March 2012 21:28:57
Vehicle: AMX 40
Experience received: 1,240 (x2 for the first victory each day)
Credits received: 9,952
Battle Achievements: Master Gunner, Sharpshooter, Sniper

Double edit: Scratch that, good bye AMX40, rust in piece:

Victory!
Battle: Ensk 19 March 2012 22:10:55
Vehicle: AMX 12t
Experience received: 814 (x2 for the first victory each day)
Credits received: 9,700
Battle Achievements: Sniper

Well worth the grind :)

Finally made it thru the AMX40... and there were *some* games which were fun.
In the others, I was mainly shooting HE at Tier 7 stuff, happy to make 5 HP damage or hit some tracks.

But the stats overall weren't that bad:
55 battles, 28 wins (51%), 16 survivals (29%)
Avg. XP 235 (non-prem), Avg. Net Cash 4487 (non-prem)
Fragged 39 others, max: 3 in a battle
Best battle 642 XP in a tier 3-4 battle.

11 battles were up to tier 4, 8 wins, 18 frags, 334 XP avg.
25 battles were up to tier 5, 15 wins, 15 frags, 247 XP avg.
5 battles were up to tier 6, 2 wins, 2 frags, 162 XP avg.
14 battles were up to tier 7, 3 wins, 4 frags, 159 XP avg.

So much about the usefulness when there is higher than tier5 around, but in lower tier battles, it's a winner.

The A-20 grind felt much more painful!
As does the Stock AMX12t. Not really a nimble scout if you are used to T-50.

Has anyone ever got this tank to go the advertised 50kmh max? I've never had it above 20kmh and that's with 100% crew and all modules.

The MM is pretty bad for me, constantly at the bottom, therefore an exercise in frustration. Weirdly, in 8 games on this account I have 5 wins. How that has happened I don't know, the battles are usually over by the time I get anywhere near the action...

I hate both the AMX 40 and the AMX 12t.  AMX 40 was slow but at least i could get a kill or two. With the 12t i can't even hit a target. I have to move all the time because its made of paper and the gun (even the best one) has a really horrible accuracy.
I have to facehug the target to be able to hit them. And for some reason it tends to bounce A HELL LOT. 81-135mm standard penetration and most of the times it can't penetrate a 40mm armor. IF it hits that is.

Advice: If you dont want to end up in a mental institution skip both the AMX 40 AND and the AMX 12t. They are both moving turds. One moves slow the other fast. That's the only difference.

Is it only me who truly enjoys the low tier French tanks? The rubber duck is tons of fun for me. It's almost impenetrable by tier 1-5 except for KV of course. It's 75 mm gun is really decent and gets the job done well. It's a slow but steady tank. Also, I like the B1 too. Currently I own 2 heavy tanks: The B1 and the KV. If I want a fun game, I pick the B1 hands down. A big portion of my games with B1 were the best matches I've played in this game in terms of fun and odds. KV is very boring compared to B1 to my liking.
These two French tanks I enjoy the most so far in the whole game, I'll also keep them and make them elite.  :Smile-hiding:
you pick B1 over KV for a fun match? What. The. Hell.

I can feel with you. Yesterday was my great moment of sending this piece of crap to hell.

Got, it was such an illuminating moment when I finally hit the "sell"-button.

This moment of relief deep in my heart, when I finally realized that I will never ever have to drive this crazy ass shoebox again.

HALLELUJAH!

YES. YES. AND YES!

I spent 9k free xp to get over it. And it was sooooo worth it.

After a couple of games with this tank, I can say that it gets a little bit better with the 75mm. Compared to the 47mm were it's completely unplayable. I researched all modules with free xp after two games with the 47mm. Anyway this tank is slow. The armor is ok, and with the 75mm it gets a little better at close-combat.

EDIT: some how I managed to get 7 kills with this tank... got me some xp :)
