i can guarantee that my bios was set up for dual channel correctly and my motherboard is an asus P5K premium with a q9550 @ 3.4ghz. my ram (kingston hyperx 1066) runs at 1000mhz cl5 with the overclock

i think it must be caching of map details and textures or something similar (1st time i load any map it is slower then every time i play that map again it is much quicker).

Well, your Board only supports dual channel, so everything more than 2 sticks will not do anything to speed at all because there are only 2 lanes.
Yes loading something for the first time is always slower because its read from hdd to ram/vram where it stays until not needed for a long time. Check the read/write rate from your hdd and then from your ram then you know why its so much slower the first time

yes but before the ram upgrade i always got into every game at around the 15 seconds left in the timer no matter how many tmes i played the map, now with 8gb after the first time playing any map i am in before the counter starts always on any given map.

hd's are 2 x 250gb wd re's in raid 0  :)

The thing is you should look for the reason of the speed increase somewhere else than the increased size of ram. I actually would suggest trying it out by taking them out again and fiddling with bios settings, I smell some hidden potential for speed increase.
On a side note my pc is meant for some heavy simulations so I never actually saw a loading screen  :P
