History
i created this mod 13 months ago but never made it public. only shared it with some friends and they were very pleased with it.

Why create this mod
When i started playing this game i was very annoyed with the tank icons. the only way to tell how many meds were on the enemy team was to press TAB and read the whole scoreboard. same for amount of arty. later when the "kamikaze scouts" were introduced, there also was no way to tell their numbers by simply looking at the icons. since i didnt like the available icon mods, i created my own icons. all i did was to make them more distinct from each other. no fancy colors that distract you from the action, no flood of tiny numbers.  

Mod Description
This mod changes 152 tank icons to be more distinct from each other. the icons work fine for people with red/green weakness.
medium tanks are now orange and marked with a "M" so that they are easy to tell from heavy tanks.
fast moving light tanks (known as "kamikaze scouts") are now yellow, so that arty and defending tanks can easily tell what's coming to them.
tier V scouts are marked with a "V". TDs are now blue instead of grey. Arties are now red instead of dark-brown. its now much easier to see the amount of dangerous arty, especially for people with a weakness for red and green colors. french tanks with revolver magazine are marked with a black dot.

how to make use of icons:

Heavy tank:
-look at the amount of red icons (arty) to decide your route of attack (use cover!!!)
-look at the amount of orange icons (meds) to see whether you have to stay in groups to protect each other from swarming
-look at the amount of blue icons (TDs) to see what horrors await you when you approach the enemy base

Medium tank:
-look at the amount of red icons (arty) to decide your route of attack
-look at the amount of yellow icons (kamikaze scouts) to see whether you have to stay at base and defend arty
-look at the amount of orange icons (meds) to see which route the enemy might take (hill?) and where you have to assist/defend

Light tank:
-look at the amount of red icons (arty) to see if there are any targets at enemy base
-look at the amount of yellow icons (scouts) to see what you might meet halfway through the map

Arty:
-look at the amount of yellow icons (kamikaze scouts) to decide whether to hurry to cover or to support your (kamikaze) scouts
-look at the amount of red icons (arty) to estimate the danger of counter arty
-look at the amount of orange icons (meds) to see if the base could be flanked early on

ah i dont read carfully, but there are Tanks who have their Normal Icons so i thought its not complete complete. Might be a chance to get all icons colored?

the new WOT version requires you to copy the files here:

"World_of_Tanks\res_mods\0.7.1.1\gui\maps\icons\vehicle\contour"

is there a way to disable the transparaency of the players panel ?

i am trying to update as soon as possible. all 81 icons need to be reworked and a dozen new added.
i ditched my old PC some days ago and now i need to set up a new system first before i can start modding again...

edit: i have worked 3 hours so far and 60 out of 200 icons are done. that means 140 more to go. ugh

ok, after 7 friggin hours in photoshop i have finally "updated" this mod for 7.4 (and by update i mean starting from scratch)

i hope you are worth it. i really dont like wasting my time making mods for crap games like this.

Great mod by the way. I noticed few tanks stiil coming up grey. Couple noticed were pz iii and T 28.

Had a look in the icons folder and these weren't included.

when i created this mod there were no heavy tanks below tier 5. so the medium tanks were kinda the heavy tanks at tiers 2 to 4. and some "light" tanks were actually heavy tanks (impenetrable for 40% of their opponents). and since light and medium tanks from tier 2-3 had very similar mobility and armor it made no sense to distinguish between them either. the point of the mod was to indicate the mobility of both teams. you will never get outflanked or kamikaze-scouted by a loltraktor. why mark it as light tank when it is as slow as a heavy tank?

if you have any ideas about how to mark tanks at tier 4 and below feel free to leave a comment. how to display the difference between slow light tanks (loltraktor) and fast light tanks (T-50) ? what about light tanks that have impenetrable frontal armor (H35, H38, M3 Stuart) ?
