All I can tell, that the picture below is a T25 medium tank with HVSS suspension, definitely not a tank destroyer.

Well yes, but it looks like a juiced up T20 with a bigger gun, so I figured we might get this as a TD. Remember that WoT vehicle classes do not always correspond to traditional real life classifications. A version of the T25 AT with a turret would fit well in the new tech tree branch of turreted TD's leading to the reclassified T30.

There was a postwar proposal to rebuild the fifty T25 mediums with new turrets and 105mm gun T5E1, but those were still tanks in anybody's  book.

Not like that means much. For example, T95 was never meant to be a tank destroyer, only a bunker-buster. It could not even pivot turn.

Maybe the Devs found some exotic paper project to toy with. I've asked for pics in Overlord1s thread two times. Nothing this far.

the T28 proto was apparently just made up entirely by the devs...

I tried to do some research...
I couldn't find anything about the T28 prototype...probably a 100% fantasy tank ...

If this is the way WG is going... :facepalmic:
The T28 we see in game is also  made up, T28/T95 different names for the same tank.
I wonder what guns they are going to use.

You can also see that WG added something one the lower hull, the easily penetrated part.

T95 had several different names. T28 was one of them. Vehicle on the pic is still T95 - one pair of tracks was demountable for easier transport.
T28 was made up by devs. They probably had some drawings of early T95 design or something like that but still it was devs invention.

My theory is that the T28 that is ingame was a doodle in an engineers book

The T1 Heavy and M6 were just variations of the same design. That's probably the same for the T28 and T95.

I agree with you that that is still a T95, especially an early version. It is not however a four tracked version with one pair of tracks demounted, as the four tracke version would have a wider hull.

T28 Prototype pictures found on Russian forum (dunno the real source, so no credit):

http://s2.ipicture.r...06/oCZSBQSW.jpg

And for some candy - 20-th Wargaming TV release with US td footage, physics and MOAR YouTube

From the video it is known that T28 Prototype wont have 360 degrees turret rotation, it will not cover the rear (~286).

That part of the hull is added together with the additional tracks :) Look closely in-game and you'll see it.
@T28 prototype
this turret is armoured nicely. Hull looks solid too. Maybe this thing will die from one-hit from any tier 6 arty but other tanks will have big problems to pen it frontally without 220+ pen.

+1 for the find!

Looks great and I've always loved the open topped turret designs. You can see the gun breech recoil inside and the combination of heavy armour and no roofs has a bit of a gritty feel to it if you imagine the thing in the pouring rain. One of the bet looking vehicles ingame definitel. Don't care whether it was rl or not. The only thing I am concerned about is the steepness of that frontal armour plate. Looks like a loltraktor can penetrate it. Maybe it's a hull-downer.

Not at all bothered by less than 360 degree turret on a TD. If your driving a TD and the enemy is on your arse, you're doing it wrong and are dead anyway. The advantage of a turret on a TD comes from a wider gun traverse and perhaps adaptable mantlet armour, not arse covering.

You are probably right, but it still makes absolutely no sense to me. Why would you add a non functional piece of hull along with the tracks? It is just dead weight.

Additional pair of tracks = additional suspension. They had to mount this to something. Also, this little part of hull was used to attach additional tracks to vehicle. Just look at the pictures:

http://sadpanda.us/i...368-3W2SQIS.jpg
Also: more side armour and spaced armour.

Haha,.. ok, now it makes sense. +1

But imagine weakspots ingame working like they should: you could shoot that little hinge, dislodge the suspension, demobilize the whole thing and half the side armour.
