AMX M4(1945) - how to use it in battles

hello. i hope that someone knows how is best way to use AMX M4 in battles?
i have researched, tracks turret and second 90mm gun. in the beginig it was good, but now my win ratio is 28% and droping.
i hardlly win battles, and big part of that is very weak armour. it becomes frustrating.
ARL 44 with same gun is much much better tank.
i hope that someone has experience with this tank, or know how is properlly to use it. thanks in advance.

Don't. I will skip M4 with free xp, as soon as I finish the horrible grind through ARL44.

It performed pretty well for me - at least after I had all upgrades on it.
Think of it as a Tiger-Panther hybrid.
It is basically a cheap Tiger copy - armor and gun are about the same with the notable exception of the very long aiming time, speed and agility are comparable. Main problems are the general lack of armor protection (tier 4s from 400 meters and a few lucky bounces do not really count), smaller health pool and gun depression that is simply non existent but same basic principles still apply. Stand behind friendlies, snipe and support. You have mobility, accuracy and penetration (for a tier VII tank that is)so use them to be a decent sniper.
With last engine it gets fast for a heavy and you can push the limits of your luck and skill driving it like a slower and less agile med now and then. When elited it keeps pace with Panthers. I actually had some fun with it.

Pretty much agree with Ronin.
I play the AMX simmilar way as I do in VK4502A. Using it´s decent mobility to support medium tanks when flanking or to get into favourable sniping position.
Real pain in the ass is when I am the top dog when I feel guilty letting smaller team mates to take the hits for me. There you see you have no armor and no HP pool to accomodate it.
The conclusion is to be successful in the AMX M4 you need to avoid the head on fight as much as possible and keep the distance between you and the enemy which can be a difficult task to accomplish.
If you can manage it the AMX when equipped with it´s top gun can take them out pretty nicely.

yup i know that feeleng. and therefore i was asking for sugestions how to play. mobiliti is problem because i use stock engine.
my goal was to get top gun and turret. somehow i allways end in team where players acts like onesided street. often i find myself alone against 2,3 or more oponents. you all know how the story ends even if u drive better tank than amx m4.
thx ronin for sugestions i will see how situation will go when i upgrade engine. for now mobility is big problem, and ofcourse armour.
for me personally arl 44 beats m4 in all fields. much better tank, even he is tier lower.

And mostly because the gun can aim lower then the M4. If the M4 could aim lower, it would be a better tank

AMX M4 sucks
It must be the worst tier 7 in the game
Did go head to head with a M6(aka xp pinjata) and i lost ...

Get the 105 mm gun NOT the 90mm, the 90mm will put you in higher tier matches and it's a crap gun. The 105 has great damage, and lots of ammo to spray around, and it puts you in lower tiered matches. It's a decent tank with the 105, just avoid damage and stay behind.

Since when did MM take into account the module state of your tank?
Actually it does, .. the added module weight would increase/decrease your total weight and the MM just matches you accordingly with a similar weight and (sometimes) tier opponent.

Since when? As Overlord stated, there is no intelligent MM implemented in 7.1 patch.

Just get the last gun and you will do fine. That gun really makes the tank(as with so many other last guns).
Obviously armour isnt its strong suit so dont get hit more then absolutely needed. I wasnt a fan of this tank tbh before I got the last gun which really makes this a fairly good and fun tank actually. Just dont try to brawl with it

It can also, apparently, be used as a scout.
(Just in case anyone is wondering, we lost since my team, high tier tanks, mostly platooned all went left leaving me to hold right on my own.)

It's quite a fun tank, but at the same time, one of the most frustrating. It has no armor, with the 2nd turret you add a slither of dingabillity to the tank, but most shots will go through anyway. The driver gets injured a lot though, I like to imagine he is sitting on the outside of the tank, he is so vulnerable.
You can unlock the 212mm pen 90mm gun on the ARL 44, also the second engine. I unlocked them before I got the M4 and I do not regret it. I would reccomend doing that.
I use it, exactly as I used my ARL 44, there is barely any difference between them in performance, so if what you was doing was working in the ARL 44, then it should work to a similar level with the AMX M4.

Not true.
Due to non-existent gun depression on the M4 which I used on the ARL a lot. AMX M4 just can't use the terrain to its advantage as the ARL can easily.
