Yeah, in general the LSW wasn't all that great. Too small a mag to be an LMG, too small a calibre to be a DMR.

Thankfully the L129A1 does the job now.

To stay on topic here...why only post one?

Centurion to Chieftain to Challenger. I adore this picture. British Cold War armour in a nutshell. I just wish there was one with a Scorpion and a Conqueror with these three, then it'd be the full set. I do have one of a Conqueror Mk2 with a Centurion Mk7/1 and Prototype Chieftain though...

LOL calling them techs has made them soft.
having others that were techs, gave them no end of things to bitch about.
just as well the gut didnt shoot an slr set to the min gas setting or god forbid.... a .303 that even cadets would shoot

good old lmg, very easy to double tap, or even single shot... +a fcuk sight more reliable than lsw.
think the lsws werent shot enough to loosen them up.

Radar/Rapier Tech posted in as a VE when the REME decided to get rid of the trade, he could swap component boards but work way through a wiring loom hmmm. I was posted in as an RE sparky to do the same job, someone had a right laugh with that one.

Found a video of Scorpions (recent 2010) doing live firing, Irish Army on you tube. Although their live fire ex is not as spectacular as an average Brit one.

Nice phots by the way!

The LSW was a complete failure in the SF role, in which it could not compare to the Jimmy/Gimpy/Gun when it came to getting heeds down, beaten zones, range, power, weight of fire etc.

Everytime we got into a real shooting war, Brit Mil would dust off the Guns & bin the LSW. Just aswell they kept a few!

The only real plus for the LSW was better accuracy & weight.

Loved my elephant gun, had a chance to fire one in 2006 not long before I got out (last fired one in 1991 when I got my LSW to replace my LMG/Bren).

The REME I was attached to could not believe the recoil of it lol (had a tech Sgt refuse to fire it), it seemed so long as well after handling the SA80 for 14 years.

You should have handed him the Gimpy to play with then ;). He obviously failed the man test, plus since when do the REME know how to fire weapons properly?

Back with Yummy yanky ships. Rather Said, BATTLESHIPS. Oh man. Older than Kirov, but still pretty big, and if i was in Sovjet Navy seeing one of those, i would probably look after a Nuke to sink the USS Iowa. Man this thing is scary and pretty

modern training?
produce numbers +make the working units, bring the people up to standard :(
the reme who have done independant command courses mightve learnt how to shoot ;)
i blame my bad hearing on being a good shot +getting through 1000rounds a day on shooting comps/practices

Ooops got rid of VE as separate trade (all our B mechs had to go and conversion courses as did our VE's), although heard rumours they were or had brought it back recently.

Dammit Armstrong/Troska/Lukin ...

All,go to tree 6'clock.

The BMP was a fearsome predator in that game ... but my personal favourite was that shiny sun-of-a-beach.

2K11 Krug or SA-4 ganef was a medium to long range Surface to air missile. The missiles are launched with the aid of four solid fuel rocket motors inside boosters attached to the outside of the massive missile. Once they have burned and the missile is aloft, it fires a liquid-fuelled ramjet sustainer engine. It reaches speeds of up to Mach 4 and has an effective range of 50–55 km (31–34 miles) depending upon the version. It carries a 135 kg (300 lb) warhead. Possible engagement altitudes range from 100 m-27 km
