Hehe, rare to be top tier with the T-34 indeed these days. Maybe I'm just unlucky as usual.

One thing I forgot mention earlier but something that's of course been discussed... the maneuverability. It's a bit silly how bad the T-34 is at going cross-country. It often barely seems to be able to do 30kph on even a very slight upward slope (like racing to the hill in Mines, especially from the north), while something like the StuG can keep going it's maximum speed just fine. The T-34 feels much too slow and clumsy compared to what it should be on anything but "concrete" (ie. maps like Himmelsdorf). This is really my only complaint about gameplay with the T-34.

T-34 can shine when he's top tier. It's very good tank even if you are in battle with tier 7 but still with many tier 5 tanks. Just get new track and gun asap. Dunno about engine (+20hp) because I had it from start (from Su-85). Few upgrades, good tactic, some luck and you can kill everything up to tier 5 and maybe tier 6.
But when I'm lowest tier in battle I can't do anything. Sure, there are still some tier 5 tanks in battle but I always finish meeting tier 7-8 tank who simply one-shoot me. In battles like that I just go with strongest heavy and try to scout for him to get more XP and credits when he damage enemy. T-34 is too slow for 'full' scouting, but when you can show enemy and hide yourself until your friends take him down, you can be at least useful... However, this tactic doesn't work with every map and team members.

Anyway, sometimes T-34 is awesome, sometimes you'll get killed in second minute of battle. But again, it's not fault of tank but match-making system because sometimes you won't have chance to do anything.

I'm slowly starting to get some results as bottom tank - remember the ZIS can penetrate almost anything from behind. If you can get in close (while enemy is distracted, reloading, or can't see you) you can track, circle and chew up lone heavies pretty good. Sure, they can one shot you, but they need to hit you first - once a heavy is immobile, it will really struggle to traverse fast enough to touch you. Even if 2/3 of your shots bounce off the sides/front as you circle, arty/snipers will be more than happy to wail on a paralyzed heavy while you keep it occupied.

Yeah, I know, daveharnett. I had nice fights with KVs and others. S-54 gun can penetrate most tanks up to tier 7 (aiming soft points). But it's rare to find alone heavy.
Most of times, if I'm lowest tier, I try to sneak to enemy and kill arty, spot TDs or attack tanks from behind. I'm just unlucky with meeting stronger enemies who can spot me faster than I can spot them and react.

And when I assist stronger friends I can get closer and try to circle enemy while he's busy with my mate (and his big gun). IS-3 won't aim T-34 when he's facing another IS-3. And this is something I'm waiting for.

I really do hope that haven't upped the tier level in which the T-34 battles but my last 10 games or so have been frankly rubbish where I just can't damage anyone. If I want to scout I'll play my Luch.

I still get in mostly T6~7 games, same as my PzIII/IV, can't really complain about it, since T-34's got DAT machinegun  :P

As others have said before this is a good tank at its tier but I don't know whether something's changed or i've just been getting unlucky but 4 in 5 games I'll be the bottom tank, and without a half good HE option on this tank you're just fodder. Because at least in a KV, PzIV and M4 when you get shoved against tiers 7-8 you can stay back and deal 10% a hit maybe more if you're lucky with the 107mm (well this even works with AP) and 10.5cm. I tend to end up just hiding behind bigger tanks hoping the other unlucky bugger that's been shoved in with me appears so I can do some dmg before someone on my team 1 shots him.

Alright?

I've gotta say I think the T-34 is great fun with the 57 mm cannon - almost as much fun as the E8 anyway and a good tier lower. I've upgraded the tank and I am assuming that the Enhanced Christie Suspension mod would increase its manoeuvrability albeit by a tiny fraction (10%), this is correct no?

It's a damn shame it cannot fit a Vertical Stabilizer though

As far as I know the suspension upgrade will change ONLY the load capacity which no tank really needs.

Only use the suspension as a quick fix to be able to use bigger guns without researching tracks.

with 57-mm ZisS-4 with AP you could penetrade Vk45 from side and rear, same for Tiger II and Tiger I could be penetrated frontal.
Real life T-34 tactic  :Smile-hiding:. Russian T-34 crew never fired a shot at Tigers front Armor. Only begun to shot when they can hit Side armor :D
