Run a tracert, it's the only way to be sure - if there are any hangups along the way they'll stand out - if the tracert looks good and the game is still laggy, you know it's the WG server in Germany.

I ran one a few minutes ago:

C:\>tracert 213.252.177.36

Tracing route to woteu1-slave-17.worldoftanks.eu [213.252.177.36]

Why would I see ANY trouble to find out why a game I'm paying to play works alot worse than a game I play for free? Same connection same country where server is - I think problem solved, wot just fails..

Were you having lag problems at the time?

Is it so hard for other people to do a simple test like that?  Because Wargaming aren't going to listen to "wah wah, I got lag, fix it."

Nope, I made the post so that people who are having problems with lag can do the same and will know:

1. Whether the issue is with their ISP.

2. If it is with their ISP, they have proof that something is wrong and should be able to get it fixed.

3. If the tracert is good, with no significant rise in latency along the way, they have proof that the problem is with WG's server.

If you want to run one and are unsure how to or what it means, this guide should help you. Obviously, run the trace when you are experiencing laggy games / high ping when you are playing.

Personally, I've very rarely experienced lag in the game, though it has happened at least once.

There is even a sticky in the tech section detailing exactly how to test your connection. Some people just don't want to help themselves that is all.

Yep noticed mine creeping up to unplayable at peek times...yesterday evening 300+, but the wee hours of the morn, it was a steady 40-50! Below tracert at 15:00 hours. Game was 150+ just now!

Think its just servers struggling with load as a post previous says, we played constantly the same handful of maps last night!

do a tracert on the server and see where the issue is, assuming someone actually knows the servers IP address?

Looks like Vigin media's connection to the backbone is overloaded. :Smile_harp:

Orly?

So why do people all over Europe with many different ISPs have the same problem with the same WG/BCC hop that I posted?

That hop belongs to "DE-CIX, the German Internet Exchange" according to whois.net, AFAIK they have nothing to do with Wargaming.

It being the first hop outside Virgin's network tells me all I need to know.  You need to talk to the bearded guy.
