100mm is still the best choice. Especially with a Stabilizer and Rammer. The 85mm is more accurate at 100mm, but accuracy stats are misleading on the T-44 since you should NEVER stop to shoot. Almost all T-44 shooting is done on the move and at close ranges. So, the 100mm and 85mm have basically the same accuracy under those conditions. The 100mm wins out with penetration and damage. When you are circling another tank you may not always get to take a shot at their rear. I sometimes shoot them head on if I think that shot could finish them before they finish reloading.

The 100mm just becomes the clear choice when you take in all the factors of cost, damage, penetration, and rate of fire.

I also agree that 100 mm feels like better choice than 85 mm on T-44. I was using 85 mm on T-43 because it's significantly slower and more vulnerable tank so it was crucial to hit opponent as often as possible, while T-44 with its overall better armor and mobility gives you enough time to wait a bit more for 100 mm to reload and then hit really hard, even when you have to shoot on frontal armor.

Btw I didn't think about 122 mm, ever. It's so wrong to put something like that on T-44, you would literally cripple your machine.

I just bought and tried the 122mm for the 1st time for fun. Holy cow it's USELESS. The reload time is just too much. EVEN for a sniper. I can safely say that I will NEVER use that gun again unless they adjust it to be on par with the "relatively" low pen/dam (for its reload time). Make it damage about 295 and 6,7 shots pr minute and I might consider it.

"Sniper" is a bit Odd in this context, isn't a sniper always the guy with the most accurate gun ? FYI the 122 mm has the WORST Acc. of al 3 guns.

The 85BM is the gun of my choice, and here are my reasons:

-The 85BM is the Lightest gun, making my T44 beter climb, and turn
-The 85BM is the most accurate
-The 85BM has cheaper ammo
-The 85BM and the D10 do roughly the same damage/minute

The only downside is the lower penetration rate. That is not really a problem for me, since i just hit the BigBoys with a couple of HE's and then i'm off. For countering other mediums the pen. rate is just fine, and in endgame situations the 85BM can penetrate most rear hull/turrets without much trouble. Don't be fooled by the avarage 144mm pen, the maximum penetration of the AP round is 187mm, and that's more than enough for the rear in most cases, at close range during the endgame. Just make shure you aim at a flat surface of the fatties.

The 85mm was the clear choice on the T-43 for me but since T-44 gets a higher rof on the 100 it's really the only way to go. Besides that, assuming your loader isn't dead, the 100mm reload is PERFECT for blasting an ass shot then running between a couple houses or doing some other fancy footwork before scooting out the other side and firing another one.

I prefer using the 122mm because I'm lucky and it suits my play-style and not to mention a 122mm is a team supporter cannon

Now that the sudden rush of high tier tanks has subsided i think the 85mm cannon might be the best bet. It's aim over range is brilliant and it penetrates most tanks.
On my 34-85 tonight i totally wtfpwned a T-44 using this cannon.
