I hope someone can help with this or point me in the right direction.  I've checked the other posts regarding this error, but my situation is different.

I played WOT with no problems for a couple of hours this morning.  I quit the game, went away for a few of hours and when I returned the game would not start.  This is when I received the infamous "Application has failed to start because DirectX hardware acceleration is not available or turned off."

The only thing that changed on my machine was the iTunes update, but that wouldn't affect it would it?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I had the same problem a while ago, but i can't remember what I did. Google the error. I know i found a solution that way. I had to download a directx related program and check "Enable directx hardware acceleration". But try to find it. The worst scenario would be reinstalling the game.

Thanks very much for the suggestion.  You wouldn't happen to remember what the name of the that program is, would you?  There's so much stuff out there, I'd hate to get a bogus program in my system.  :Smile-hiding:

Just to add to my earlier post, I did the dxdiag thing and it indicates that hardware acceleration is enabled.

I guess I'll have to de/re-install

Maybe not necessary, i'd reinstall/update the video driver first.

this issue happend for me with wot logger utility. if you use it, run settings.hta and uncheck automatic game run. Then run game manualy (directly or from launcher) and game work without problem.

Regarding the video driver, I have done all that.  But thanks for the tip.  I'm in the process of re-installing the game so we'll see if that helps.

Just to update you all, nothing's worked so far.  Tried just about everything now and I'm beginning to lose it over this.  Any other suggestions more than welcome.

Does other games work? Or is it only WoT?
