I recently bought my amx 12t after grinding through the awful amx 40 and I honestly have no idea why people complain about this tank.
With the amx 12t's best gun you can even pen some tier 6's and tier 7's
In fact in my last game i killed a t29 and damaged about 40% of a kv-3(attached a screenshot of this game for those of you who don't believe)
it is an awesome sniper and flanker just waiting to sneak up behind the enemies  :Smile-hiding:

So answer me, why complain?

I agree with the sentiment, this was about my 12th battle:

Victory!
Battle: Abbey 21 March 2012 09:27:41
Vehicle: AMX 12t
Experience received: 2,556 (x2 for the first victory each day)
Credits received: 33,813
Battle Achievements: Defender, Master Gunner

It's nice being able to do some damge to a KV (just don't hit the front!)

Because it has absolutely no depress/elevation capability.
That's at least the reason why I sold my AMX 12t in disgust after less than 10 battles.
Well, at least I know what to exploit against enemy AMX 12t (well, a new aspect to exploit anyway. Beyond the "Detrack to kill" part).

People that complain about those fast AMX's are the receiving end of the barrel, not the shooters.

Had the AMX 12t a couple of days now. I like this little rape machine.

When you learn to play it, It can be real fun.
Dont rush, careful support other tanks, wait for a opportunity to ambush lonely tanks and take out arty.

If the 13 75 is much better than this, the French line rocks!

Look forward to a more accurate gun. But 12t is great fun so far!

dont know why someone -1 the first 2 post, so i neutralized that

if you can do good in ur 12t, you can definitely do VERY good in the 1375 and 1390
you will not find going up the line a grind, instead, its having fun
from the 12t to 1375 and 1390, they are GREAT if you can master the basics well

as the 12t is just a transition vehicle which lets u learn how to use a french light,
you will enjoy the REAL french lights after that

i dont say i have already mastered the 1390, but at least, i can say im having fun in it.
i actually regret regarding the 12t to 1375 to 1390 a grind.
me myself did not take that as having fun, and missed a lot of pleasure in these tanks

GL on ur grind french light career  :Smile_honoring:

I rebougth my 12t and it is has fun as when I sold It. It just lack a bit of punch and mobility compared to other tier 5 lights, it has the same RoF as other tier five but he got a drum so its anoying because you can't do much agaisnt big RoF sinc eyou got no armor.

IT seem to be slowed by a lot of stuff like he consider all ground as difficult terrain a bit like pz4 before.

the 12t engine is rather weak, i can say
if you dont enjoy the 12t, just get the 1375 asap
though ur still using the 12t gun as its stock gun, and a quite weak engine for a light
you will find it fun~~~

Try fighting a T-50-2 in a tier 5.

Wargaming has always had at least one tank in the game for the mentally challenged.

after playing this in the test server:
the gun does not have accuracy, it is like throwing a dice without lady luck
the gun has no depress/elevation
holy**** it is slow.

I hate it because MM hates it. I end up always in tier 6 to tier 9 battles.

any hits just detracks it.

But it's still a huge improvement over the amx 40 thats why it seems good

edit : launched a battle, mainly tier 8 going up to 9....see many higher amx tiers meaning they can only be better then amx 12t....grind goes on

The AMX 12t isnt an amazing tank, but its a HUGE step up from the BB-gun Duckmobile AMX 40. It has its issues like youve pointed out, but it teaches you how to play the AMX 12t right. Your best of pick off lone/small groups of tanks, waiting for an opportunity to get in close on their flanks whilst their destracted/engaged/hiding, fire off all your shots quickly then bug out before they can react.

If you can succeed in the amx 12t, you'll have an absolute blast in the amx 13t 75 as it GREATLY improves on all of the 12ts faults. Excellent gun, much better gun depression, better engine etc... Its doesnt have T-50 style acceleration but it can hold it speed much better up inclines and around turns.

As to why I have grinded over 14k exp. already on an elite vehicle without "accelerate crew training": I am pre-grinding the AMX-13 F3 AM  :Smile_great:

Is the AMX 12t considered a scout like Chaffe, vk2801 and T-50-2? Surely not? I'm thinking matchmaking wise..

I have the free exp for it, but I'm not sure if I should get it :P Apart from some whiners it seems people like it.

AMX 12t is a pretty snazzy tank, and in the right situation can shred up just about anything. I hate to be one of those guys who say "Oh lol u need to L2P nub" but people who complain about it need to learn to play it. Its not a sniper, its not a brawler, not a peep-and-shoot-er, but I continually see people trying to play (and suggest playing) it as such. The AMXs purpose is for flanking and shooting sides and rears at close range, and you can tear apart just about any heavytank below tier 9 and then scoot away, before it can so much as turn its turret to face you, and with the later 75 and 90 its the same, but much bangier and scootier.

lol i have lot of noobs who say it's a scout tank -.-
i guess they don't know for what this tank was meant to be and especially when scouting doesn't mean going to die fast..

The gun elevation and depression is terrible (not a problem when you're up close though), but that awesome six shooter has finsihed off many heavies, and mobbed others, I've been sharing the grind with a platoon mate, making it drastically more effective, we hit the flanks, and look for chances to mob a lone tank, or ruin their arty party, either way, we sow confusion and chaos into the enemy, I certainly look forwards to the AMX 13 series, biggest thing we've killed yet was a suprised T29.
