situation about gold ammo (ab)use in rando...

I've been blasting off gold ammo in the test server for the last couple of weeks, I can't say that I have ever seen even a the faintest tinge of blue in a tracer, I never see it in CW either.
There are some people that like to use gold ammo in randoms, but I wouldn't be brave enough to put a definite percentage to it. In all honesty I would think that it would be less that 1% of players.

Yeah I agree, gold ammo give's you a certain edge what I highly doubt is the fear, that it gets normal or a must for random battles. I simply can't imagine that from those 70k people every evening almost evrebody will spend 5-10 euros a day for gold shells. Cetrainly not me.
An other point is, breaking down WoT only on shooting and hitting tanks is far to simple. A bad player will do the same mistakes with or without gold ammo. Like peeking out for a shot when he almost certain will face three or more barrels that shoot him immediatly or driving in stupid places or only knows one direciton (forward) or ..... figure out some more aspects of bad gameplay if you want.
So my point is, gold ammo in skilled hands, yes you pay for a big advantage against tanks that can be hard to pen. Gold ammo in the hands of a bad player, wasted for him.
Once a T34 wanted to shoot me with gold ammo in my T34. The funny thing about it. I wasn't even close to hull down and he missed

If circus is in town, and you don't like the circus, don't buy a ticket and don't go there. Go elsewhere, visit a concert for example. That's what I would do...
Who said i dont like the circus. Do i care about the members in the circus is a totally different matter ^^

This is a fact guys. Gold shells have bright blue tracers. Hard to distinguish unless in 3rd person view or in slow motion replay playback.
Reverend_Lovejoy, on 23 March 2012 - 02:35 PM, said:
No they aren't. I bought some gold ammo for my Type-59 last Special when they were half price and those tracers were just as gray as normal ammo.
Could someone please post a screenie or replay showing some coloured gold-ammo tracers, so I can sleep soundly tonight?

Just doesn't work like that otherwise you might have had a point. Gold bounces quite nicely on most armour and still suffers a bounce if you hit at a bad angle. All it does is increase the penetration value slightly and the benefit is lost over distance.
Yes it can bounce if you shoot at a bad angle. The actual amount for which the penetration increases is irrelevant though.
My beef is not with the performance but rather the fact that the only way to get this ammo is with real money.

The thing is WoT atm with all its hidden variables are like the box with schrödingers cat.
No statement is false but not true either.

Still waiting for someone to post a screenshot of these "blue" tracers. I have never noticed them, and I have played quite a few battles already.

You should pay attention, the guy cleary stated that HE IS USING premium account, premium tank and spend gold on some other things, so you cannot accuse him of playing for free. Im a premium account/tank user myself but I dont agree with gold ammo because its the only thing that you cannot but except using real life money. People who cannot afford to pay will have a dissavantage. That`s not fair.
Buy them , use them, bounce/miss/score zero damage hit with them then realize how much fuss for nothing is going on here.........
I use prem account, otherwise my garage will be unsustainable, and i buy some gold stuff when there is some offer, and due experience, gold ammos are the last thing i'm intrested in, with gold ammos you still have to aim carefully, they give not autoaiming or guaranteed damage, wathever fantasy players imagine about them.

Im not really a fan of gold ammo myself, but in my E-100 i usually use it against IS-7's, and sometimes Maus, simply because there is no other way of dealing with those tanks.

I imagine the use of gold ammo is more common than many realise. For the longest time i didn't use any (not in a clan with a large chunk of land so no free gold) and at the last sale on the US serveri bought a couple hundred rounds and used them. Even using only 5-10 rounds in a match can have a large impact on the game, those that claim otherwise are talking nonsense or a just really bad@tanks.
That T8 killing the T10 from the front can really tip the balance, as can killing a tank you would normally have to take a second or two to aim properly when you no longer have to aim decreasing the time you are vulnerable to return fire thus helping you maintain your HP's.
I don't even think it is always those already good players using it, average players are too. In the end there would be a lot less gold ammo about in pugs if CW was just for bragging rigths and gold ammo always came out of your pocket, but even then it would still be there.

I bought some for my E100 too with the last offer they did, the third shoot i used bounced a KV3 .............. i had it loaded previously for an E100 but he was blowed by arty and no time for ammo change.

I never even considered using gold ammo and I can afford it. Then again I have been called weird so I may not count
For me it's a waste. You're better off just entering an new battle.
What cheesed me off? Only the fact that it is a pay to win feature. Other then that I don't care or even notice it.
I get shot... I die. At that point I don't care what kind of ammo it was. I just enter a new battle.
VK3001P isn't worth your sanity believe me, I grinded through it before to the VKDB before the E series change and now I'm back in it again grinding for the Tiger P and it hurts my brain, I don't know why I punish myself like this.
Yes your opinion is similar to mine that it is a waste to use gold ammo in randoms however that is not everyone's opinion. If you think about it though Premium account status is pay to win, I pay and I gain XP faster meaning I get into bigger tanks quicker and those bigger tanks usually roflstomp the lower ones... I've effectively paid to win but I still have to grind, same with gold ammo your grind is still just as bad but you can at least get XP from damages.

i swear i saw a blue tracer everytime a gold round was fired to my tank. BUT if people that usually use gold rounds say i'm wrong, well i'll second that and admit i can be wrong (since i never fired a single APCR, HEAT or super splash HE)
this don't change the fact that with those "special events" selling discount gold ammo, gold ammo usage in random battles became quite a trend even for who doesn't own any CW region.
but it's really frustrating facing the last enemy after holding 7 tanks and seeing after he bounce every single shot (looking at scratches failing to aim weakspots) and suddently penetrating the upper IS7 frontal with a silly angle, makes this game not so funny anymore.
we all know how to use our armor in heavy tanks, here we all know where to shot, we all know about lucky rolls... but when a named gun can't penetrated a said zone of armor even on the luckiest roll, is not funny anymore.
sorry again for the useless debate but i constantly see this game going to pump luck and money availability versus skill patch after patch. i'll keep playing until i'll lose the few remaining reasons i play this game.
WG you'll not do it and probably not even think about it... but if you talk about developing WoT with passion and gameplay as priorities, it's a lie.
(just take a look about how much penetration the T110 have with gold rounds... 380mm if i'm not wrong... and relate that with his rate of fire. makes it the perfect gold rounds eater)

They can't because it doesn't happen.
If I remember I'll run a few replays from CW and get some screenshots, but of course then they will say the colour is removed for replays.
As for random battles, yes there are people using gold ammo, and I imagine the numbers go up whenever there is a half price deal on.
All I can say is a gold ammo shot which misses or dings is so much more frustrating than a regular one.

There's a way to tell. Not by the hole size, not by the tracer, but something else.
A Gold shell will shoot sparks out of the hit tank impact hole for a few seconds after it hits. I have specifically tested that both on test as well as live server. Yes, I like to goof around with HEAT shells on 10,5 cm or 105mm howitzers for US and German tanks (Hetzer, StuG III, JgPz IV, Sherman Jumbo, etc) because it shortens the grind.

What about limiting the number of special shells you can have with you to a battle?
(I'd do that both for randoms and CWs)
You know in real WWII for example Soviet T34-85 crews only had 4-5 APCR shots and were only allowed to use them vs KingTigers or similar, having to report to their commander for explanation everytime they actually did that.

Personally I think that if someone is stupid enough to use gold shells in randoms then let him use them. It is just really expensive to use them in every game. For example if a gold shell costs 10gold and you shoot 10 shots per match... 100gold per match. In other words if 1500 gold costs 7€ then one match costs them 0,46€ just in ammo. 10 matches is 4,67€ and 100 matches is 47,7€. That's just insane amounts of money.
